🟣 August is Overdose Awareness Month 🟣

This month, we honor the lives lost to overdose and stand with those affected by substance use. Let's raise awareness, share knowledge, and take action, because overdose is preventable. 💜

5 Things to Know About Overdose:

1️⃣ Fentanyl is the leading cause of overdose deaths. It's often mixed into other substances without the user knowing.
2️⃣ Naloxone (Narcan) saves lives. It can reverse opioid overdoses when used quickly and correctly.
3️⃣ Most overdoses happen in the presence of others. Being trained to respond can mean the difference between life and death.
4️⃣ Stigma keeps people from getting help. Kindness and understanding open the door to recovery.
5️⃣ Recovery is possible. Many people go on to lead healthy, fulfilling lives with the right support.

💡 How You Can Help in Carroll County, MD:

✔️ Carry Naloxone. Free kits and training are available through the Carroll County Health Department: https://cchd.maryland.gov
✔️ Attend a local training or awareness event. Look for Overdose Awareness Month events in Westminster and surrounding areas.
✔️ Volunteer or donate to local organizations like Triangle Recovery Club or Carroll County Recovery Support Services.
✔️ Encourage safe use practices and support harm reduction.
✔️ Share resources. Your voice can connect someone to the help they need.

Every life matters. 💜 Let's work together to end the stigma and prevent overdose in our community.
