We are excited to invite you the Young Professionals Board’s first fundraising event on Saturday, January 20th 2024. The nights events include games, open bar and most importantly the main event, Mouse Races. Get your tickets here: https://twsh.org/ypb/mouse/

Through your generous support, The Women’s Safe House provides shelter for women and children annually in a safe and secure place, helping them heal from the trauma of abuse through individual and family counseling, support group activities, and innovative programming such as Music Therapy and Art Empowerment.

The Young Professionals are a group of professionals in their 20s to 40s dedicated to the continued success of TWSH and networking among peers. They are part of TWSH advocacy group and have the unique opportunity of becoming involved with TWSH at a deeper level. The YPs goals are to increase awareness of our mission among young adults, enhance our volunteer base, build future leadership, network and create additional revenue paths for TWSH through membership and fundraising events.

This event will be to shed light on mental health awareness, especially within athletes. So often we focus on the physical development of competing in sports and forget our athletes’ mental development. This is a great opportunity for our athletes and much needed to help in their overall development not only athletically but in life. I for Interests - These are what form your passions, hobbies and things that draw your attention and keep you entertained over periods of time.

T for Temperament - Your inborn preferences. Are you introvert or extrovert? Do you plan things or wing it?

A for Around-the-Clock Activities - When you prefer to do certain things. An example is when you like to wake up or go to bed.

L for Life Mission and Meaningful Goals - Understanding your purpose and what you consider the most meaningful events of your life.

In the Drama Triangle, each player in the particular mind game begins by assuming one of the three typical roles:
The victim
The persecutor
The rescuer

Victims often feel victimised, trapped, helpless and hopeless. They think they are at the mercy of life. They are unwilling to take responsibility for their undesirable circumstances and don’t think they have the power to change their lives.

Rescuers constantly intervene on behalf of the Victims and try to save Victims from perceived harm. They feel guilty of standing by and ‘watching people drown’.

Persecutors are like ‘Critical Parents’ who are strict and firm and set boundaries. They tend to think that they must win at any cost.

DBT’s Wise Mind

Your mind has three states: The reasonable mind, the emotional mind, and the wise mind. Everyone possesses each of these states, but most people gravitate toward a specific one most of the time.

The emotional mind is used when feelings control a person’s thoughts and behavior. They might act impulsively with little regard for consequences.

The wise mind refers to a balance between the reasonable and emotional halves. They are able to recognize and respect their feelings, while responding to them in a rational manner.

A person uses their reasonable mind when they approach a situation intellectually. They plan and make decisions based on fact.

What better way than to express self love.

There are 4 aspects to self love: self awareness, self worth, self esteem and self care.
*If one is missing you don’t entirely love yourself*

-Self awareness is being aware of your thoughts
-Self worth is all the good things about you
-Self esteem stems from self worth, it is realizing you are valuable regardless of what you have achieved or the qualities you may have
-Self care is all the acts we do to keep ourselves healthy

Remember YOU are just as important as your loved ones. So take care of yourselves and have a good Valentine’s Day!
