🤔 Myth: “Coffee gives you energy.”
🧠 Truth: Coffee doesn’t actually create energy, it temporarily changes how your body perceives fatigue. Caffeine works by blocking adenosine, a natural chemical that builds throughout the day and signals sleepiness to the brain. When adenosine is blocked, you feel more alert even though your body may still be running on low reserves!
It also stimulates the release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which can create that familiar boost in focus or motivation. For some people, this feels great! For others, it may also show up as jitters, anxiety, crashes or disrupted sleep later on.
☕ Coffee itself isn’t the enemy, it can absolutely have benefits and work well for many people. The bigger takeaway is this: if you need coffee just to function every day, it may be worth looking at the root cause of low energy 🌼
