🎉 Celebrating Manny – One Year Sober! 🎉

A year ago, Manny made the brave choice to leave New York and start over — first at Avenues Recovery, where he began rebuilding his foundation, and then continuing his journey with us at Into Action. 🙌

Some people say “geographic cures” don’t work… we respectfully disagree. 🌎 Sometimes, a change of environment gives someone exactly what they need to spark the change within. Of course, the work still has to be done — and Manny did the work. He faced the challenges, embraced the community, and showed up every single day. 💪

We’re proud of you, Manny. One year down, a lifetime of growth and gratitude ahead.

Today - we have so many pathways to healing. Why does self help (AA, NA, HA - all the A's) still work so well, especially for those really early in recovery? In the program, we call it the transmission line. Before we dive deep within the 12 steps, many of us find an acceptance and sense of belonging simply by walking through the door. The parable that follows really captures that essence.

The Drunk Who Fell in a Hole

A drunk fell in a hole and couldn't get out. A businessman went by. The drunk called out for help. The businessman threw him some money and told him get yourself a ladder. But the drunk could not find a ladder in this hole he was in.

A doctor walked by. The drunk said, "Help, I can't get out." The doctor gave him drugs and said, "Take this, it will relieve the pain." The drunk said thanks, but when the pills ran out, he was still in the hole.

A renowned psychiatrist rode by and heard the drunks cries for help. He stopped and said, "How did you get there? Were you born there? Were you put there by your parents? Tell me about yourself, it will alleviate your sense of loneliness." So the drunk talked with him for an hour, then the psychiatrist had to leave, but he said he'd be back next week. The drunk thanked him, but he was still in his hole.

A priest came by and the drunk called for help. The priest gave him a Bible and said I'll say a prayer for you. He got down on his knees and prayed for the drunk, then left. The drunk was very grateful, he read the Bible, but he was still stuck in that hole.

A recovering alcoholic happened to be passing by. The drunk cried out, "Hey, help me, I'm stuck in this hole." Right away, the recovering alcoholic jumped in the hole with him. The drunk said, "What are you doing? Now we're both stuck here." But the recovering alcoholic said, "It's okay, I've been here before, I know how to get out."

One year sober — what a difference a year can make. 💛

Last week Stephanie reached this incredible milestone in her recovery journey. Her story is one of courage, growth, and connection is a reminder of what’s possible when we take it one day at a time.

As Stephanie shared:

“I’ve been breaking out of my shell and getting connected with those in the program. Taking it one day at a time and realizing that I am worthy of a sober life and beginning to love myself again. My daughter and grandson are a big part of my recovery — I’m so grateful to have them in my life now that I’m sober. Hard work pays off. Keeping connected with the program and reaching out to others helps keep me sober, one day at a time.”

Stephanie, your dedication and honesty inspire everyone around you. Watching you rebuild your life and reconnect with family reminds us what recovery is all about — love, effort, and faith in what’s possible.

Keep shining, keep connecting, and keep taking it one day at a time. We’re proud of you. 💪

Thursday night softball league is officially in the books! ⚾️
We wrapped up the season taking 3rd place, and couldn’t be prouder of the teamwork, laughs, and good vibes all summer long.

Did you know we’ve got teams playing Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights through both the summer and fall thanks to our friends at My Social Sports? 🙌

If you’ve been thinking about joining in, now’s the time to reach out. Fall might be full, but winter league is right around the corner (and yep… it’s knocking on the door 🥶).

Proud moments like this remind us why we do what we do. ❤️

Today we celebrate Kim as she moves forward into the next chapter of her recovery journey. From her very first day with us, Kim brought strength, honesty, and heart to our community—and we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into the confident, grounded woman she is today.

As Kim shared:

“Today is a bittersweet day for me! I am starting the next chapter of my journey in recovery. I am forever grateful for Into Action Sober Living for teaching me how to be a better version of myself. I have met so many amazing, strong, empowered women in recovery… Taking suggestions, hitting meetings, working the steps, and giving my will over to the care of God has brought me to where I am today.”

Now, Kim gives back every day through her work in recovery, sponsors other women, and continues to live her faith and purpose. Her story reminds us that recovery isn’t just about rebuilding—it’s about becoming.

We couldn’t be more proud of you, Kim. Thank you for everything you’ve poured into this community. Wherever your path leads next, you’ll always be part of the Into Action family. 💛

Ahhh, fall in New Hampshire 🍂
There’s something special about this season up here; the crisp air, the changing leaves, the slower pace that makes you stop and appreciate the moment. It’s a time that reminds us how far we’ve come, and how much beauty there is in simply being present. 🍁

Last weekend, Orange Street took in all the sights and sounds of the Deerfield Fair, while Central Street headed to Carter Hill Orchard for some good old-fashioned apple picking. 🍎 Two houses, one shared reminder: recovery doesn’t mean giving things up - it means getting life back.

The laughter, the fresh air, the sense of connection… these are the moments that fill us up and keep us grounded. Whether it’s a day at the fair, a walk through the orchard, or a quiet coffee on the porch, fall gives us space to reflect, reconnect, and be grateful - for the season, for community, and for another day sober. 💛

What a way to close out recovery month! Jonathan's chess game was off today, so we happily gave away a few hoodies to some gamers! (Justin Lever wasn't one of them 😬🤫😂), still a winner in my book through)

A lot of fun was had, and a lot of reconnecting and catching up. We most certainly do recover don't we?
