I have been studying this morning.
Today, I reflected on what it means to work in places where you are often just a number—where your name, your story, and your purpose can be easily overlooked. I remember working in a call center where my boss didn’t know my name; all he knew was the production I put out. He wanted me there to push those documents and fill the seat so they can keep a contract going. It didn't matter if I was sick , I had to be there. If the weather was bad, I still had to get there. That contract still was in place and the place could never shut down for any reason. Many people that I spoke with over the phone could be helped much more than what I was allow to provide. A script was used for answers. I could have researched their answers but was not allowed. I will never forget a time when a lady could not get her medications and she was crying and the reply that I had to provide was " I am sorry for the inconvenience" When I knew exactly how she was able to get her medicines. It was not allowed.
That experience shaped how I see people and purpose. I wanted a different position to where I was in control of the answers that I provide with truth and compassion.
Our work should not be driven by a title or a paycheck. I work for Jesus, and I serve people, because what matters most to me is eternity.
The true purpose is found in helping others, in choosing to be a servant rather than simply an employee. When we leave this world, we carry nothing with us. As Scripture reminds us:
“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” — 1 Timothy 6:7 (KJV)
There was a time when I would lay down at night feeling accomplished, at peace with the day behind me. Lately, when I lay down, I sometimes feel as though I’ve failed someone—and I refuse to let that become my story.
God knows our hearts and our purpose. At times, we can become distracted by the things of this world—wanting more and more—until our minds are gently reset and we are reminded that there are people who are hungry, who need clothing, or who simply need a place of warmth. I refuse to ever let my wants replace the needs of others.
When we keep our eyes on Jesus, He changes not only our environment, but our way of thinking. I will never try to be “the best” or prove myself to anyone. Instead, we will focus on strength, on service, and on lifting others up.
As I look toward 2026, I want to give my time, my energy, and my heart to my community. Lately, I’ve felt weighed down by the small stresses of work, and I’ve been reminded of why I started Community Connections in the first place—to serve. God blessed that vision, and I believe He continues to do so. I see much bigger things happening. I refuse to focus on the things that does not matter to me. What matters is where I am going to spend eternity.
I refuse to take my eyes off my community, because when service remains the focus, everything else finds its place.
If you are an employee and client of Community Connections- An Integrity Company- I promise you matter to us!
