How can Cervical Health Awareness Month make a difference?

We can use this opportunity to spread the word about important steps women can take to stay healthy.

Here are just a few ideas:

-Encourage women to get their well-woman visit this year.
-Let women know that the health care reform law covers well-woman visits and cervical cancer screening. This means that, depending on their insurance, women can get these services at no cost to them.
-Talk to parents about how important it is for their pre-teens to get the HPV vaccine.

What is a respite caregiver? A respite caregiver provides a break for primary caregivers of people who need continuous care or monitoring. These primary caregivers usually are family members, who can be stressed and exhausted from trying to deal with work, home responsibilities and the disabled person as well. A respite caregiver is able to provide these people with some time away from their constant duties. Know someone that could use a break? Tell them to give us a call.

Take care of yourself, this new year!

In order to be a caregiver, you also need to take care of yourself, it’s very easy to forget.
✅Ask for help when you need a break. Warning signs that you are getting too stressed and need a break include irritability, sleep problems, and forgetfulness.
✅Consider arranging respite care, which is care for your loved one so that you can take a break.
✅We can send a sporadic respite caregiver who comes to the home and gets to know your family member, the family routine, to provide consistent quality care.
✅Respite care is typically paid out of pocket, unless you have Long Term Care Insurance. You can also check with your loved one’s health insurance to see what type of respite help may be covered.

Although caregivers may feel guilty about stepping away to care for themselves, it’s unrealistic to never take a break from caregiving. Listen to your body, ask for help. We can help, give us a call today.
