Laura Briggs Therapeutic Massage & Wellness

Laura Briggs Therapeutic Massage & Wellness This practice provides individualized therapeutic care for long-standing pain and mobility challenges. Growing food has always been a part of my life.

Sessions allow the time, depth, and pace needed for the body to respond and change. I’m a Kriya Massage Therapist, Master Herbalist, and Holistic Health Practitioner. I am also an avid gardener, passionate home chef, and dedicated to nurturing health and wellness. As I sought healthier alternatives for my young family, I naturally gravitated towards learning about herbs. This passion led me to com

plete a Master Herbalist program in 2006, followed by a Holistic Health Practitioner program in 2008 at the Global College of Natural Medicine, where I studied nutrition, herbal healing, aromatherapy, and other alternative modalities for whole health. Today, I not only grow our food but also cultivate and wild harvest over 100 types of herbs, focusing on immune support, wound care, and culinary uses. I spend almost as much time in my kitchen as in my gardens. In 2020, I built a raised bed kitchen garden with a hoop house to extend the growing season, making it easy to add freshly cut herbs to whatever I’m cooking. I’ve also started a cottage garden for vegetables and some fruit, and my next project is creating a protected space for new fruit trees and bushes that are safe from wildlife. In 2009, while working as a receptionist at DoveStar Institute, I was exposed to various classes, including massage therapy. It began with just three Kriya Massage classes, but the more I learned and experienced massage, the more passionate I became about it. I was amazed by the difference I felt in my own body and the relief from the aches and pains I had grown accustomed to. This inspired me to continue a path where I could help others achieve that same level of healing. Since acquiring my massage license, I have continued my education by focusing on releasing muscles deep within the body, working with fascia, and finding ways to alleviate chronic pain and improve overall mobility. I am dedicated to facilitating the innate healing ability of each of my clients and plan to continue learning advanced techniques to perpetuate that process. My mission is to help improve my clients’ health and enhance their overall well-being.

Not every massage needs to be, or should be, a full body. Sometimes, using the whole session is needed to make a real difference. The other day I was able to spend this extended amount of time focusing on loosening up the areas that have been causing pain. The issues developed over a long period of time, and it was productive and relaxing for the person on the table, as I was able to take the time to ease into the tissues, encouraging them to release.

Something I’ve been hearing a lot this week.
People are realizing that they may have taken their bodies for granted while they were younger. Now they’re thinking about how they spent years ignoring the signals from their bodies; pushing through pain, tightness, and stiffness, assuming that it would just sort itself out.

The body adapts and compensates for a long time before it starts asking for attention. Listen to the whispers before it starts screaming. The earlier you start listening, the easier it is to change the patterns causing pain.

If relief fades quickly or never quite sticks, it may not be your body. It may be the approach. Here’s what actually determines whether change lasts.

VA benefits approve medical massage for 30-minute sessions. If additional time is clinically necessary, the therapist can submit justification for 60-minute massage sessions.

Medical massage is often an alternative to opioid pain medication and can:
• Reduce muscle pain and movement restrictions
• Improve sleep quality
• Calm excessive muscle guarding
• Decrease overall tension levels
• Improve mobility and tolerance for activity

Medical massage is not a quick fix, but when received consistently, it can meaningfully improve pain levels, mobility and daily function.

Talk to your VA P*P to find out if you qualify.

What You See Is What You Pay.

My sessions are all-inclusive.

There are no add-ons.
No surprise upgrades.
No “enhancements.”
No menu of extras.

When you book a session, you get the full scope of my work.

If cupping is appropriate, I use it.
If fascia work is needed, I do it.
If positional release will create change, we use it.

You are not charged extra for what your body requires.
Your session is built around what will create the most progress that day.

Simple. Transparent. Intentional.
That’s how I run my practice.

If you’re heading out to shovel today, be mindful of how you use your body:
• Hinge at your hips, not your low back
• Keep the load close to your body
• Switch sides often
• Take smaller scoops
• Breathe out as you lift
Snow shoveling is one of the most common triggers for low back pain flare ups I see in the winter.
Work smart. Your back will thank you next week.

A recent craniosacral therapy course deepened my appreciation for how the body responds to gentle, intentional work. Sometimes the lightest touch invites the deepest release, restoring balance, calm, and connection in ways that still amaze me. This gentle work continues to show how powerful the body’s natural ability to realign itself can be.

I am excited as I integrate this into my bodywork sessions!

A recent craniosacral therapy course reminded me that the body doesn’t always need force to change. Sometimes the lightest touch can create the deepest shift, restoring balance, calm, and connection.
