WestBridge is a family-founded, private non-profit organization established in 2001, supporting the recovery of adults and their families experiencing mental illness with or without substance use. We are located in Manchester, NH, one hour from Boston, MA. WestBridge has significant expertise in treating adults experiencing Schizophrenia Spectrum & other Psychotic Disorders (e.g. Schizoaffective Disorder), Mood Disorders (e.g. Bipolar Disorders, Major Depressive Disorder), Anxiety Disorders, and PTSD, with or without Substance Use. WestBridge offers the following programs:

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Services are offered in an office setting to adults who can benefit from more support than traditional outpatient counseling can provide, yet do not need the intensity of a partial hospital, residential or inpatient program. Our IOP is shifting to a hybrid virtual and in-person format on February 2, 2026

Residential Treatment Program:
Our residential program is dually licensed by the State of New Hampshire for both mental health and substance use disorder treatment. It is CARF accredited and staffed 24/7/365. Programming is offered in a residential setting and the community. This program helps people experiencing mental illness with or without substance use, to begin or to re-establish healing. We provide an environment that is safe, homelike, comfortable and wellness-oriented. Community Integration Program (CIP):
Our community integration program (CIP) is based on the evidence-based assertive community treatment (ACT) model for adults and their families experiencing serious mental illness with or without co-occurring substance use. Services and frequency are individually tailored to the participant’s needs, with the potential to receive two to over 30 hours each week of comprehensive wraparound services provided in a combination of the community, participant’s home, and the office. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
WestBridge’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides structured, intensive mental health and substance use treatment in a supportive outpatient setting, five hours per day, five days per week for 4 – 6 weeks. Designed for individuals experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric symptoms, emotional distress or substance use disorders that interfere with daily functioning, and who require a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy but do not need 24-hour inpatient hospitalization. As such, PHP can serve as a step-down from inpatient care or a step-up from lower levels of outpatient support. Some distinctive features of both our residential and community integration program include a transdisciplinary team with psychiatry, "Meet and Greets" for prospective participants, supported education, volunteerism and employment, and an active alumni program WestBridge excels in helping adults experiencing mental illness with or without substance use who have not been able to obtain long-term recovery after prior treatment. Our independently verified treatment outcomes for men with co-occurring disorders are published in a peer-reviewed professional journal. WestBridge provides intensive outpatient program services and residential treatment to Veterans in the VA Community Care Network (CCN Region I) through a contract with Optum. WestBridge is located in Manchester, NH, 15 minutes from the Manchester Regional Airport, and approximately 1 hour from Boston, MA. We are near multiple post-secondary schools, employment, and volunteer opportunities.

Kindness as Care: How Small Acts Support Mental Health. Often kindness gets framed as something “nice,” but optional. Like an extra. Something you do if you have the time, the energy, or you are in the right mood. Acts of kindness don’t just lift someone’s spirits. They change what’s happening inside the body. Research shows that when we give or receive kindness, the brain releases chemicals linked to calm, connection, and reward.

Kindness isn’t just nice, it’s care. Learn how small acts of kindness support mental health, calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and strengthen connection for ourselves and others.

"How to Stop Overthinking—and Start Living" By Headspace. Overthinking is a silent thief of joy. It can rob moments of peace, delay decisions, and fuel anxiety with a never-ending loop of what-ifs. Whether it’s replaying past conversations or worrying about the future, the habit of overanalyzing can make life feel heavier than it needs to be. While it's natural to reflect and plan, overthinking often leads to emotional paralysis, strained relationships, and missed opportunities. Understanding the psychology behind this mental spiral is the first step toward freeing oneself from its grip. Read more at

Don't lie in bed and think about everything that could potentially go wrong. Discover the best ways to stop overthinking and start living in the present.

Today is Valentine’s Day. Give one of the best gifts of all, active listening. According to the University of Rochester Medicine EAP past blog post:
Active listening" is the practice of engaging with a speaker using techniques of listening that maximize understanding. The goal is more complete communication. Active listening is conscious and purposeful. The skill is often taught in couples counseling because it reduces misunderstandings, conflicts, and frustration; increases closeness; and helps people solve problems faster. Obviously, active listening has immense value in the workplace. Do you know how to actively listen? To practice active listening, decide to be neutral and nonjudgmental when the speaker begins. Don’t interrupt. Periodically reflect back your understanding. Don’t "fill the silence" when the speaker pauses. Use nonverbal behaviors to show you’re listening and engaged. Finally, ask for clarification if needed, and summarize what you heard.

Veterans, Helping Your Family Understand the Transition Process. Leaving the military isn’t just a personal and career change; it’s a major family transition for everyone. Everyone has to adjust when your service ends: you, your spouse or partner, kids, parents, siblings, etc. All of whom aren’t quite sure what to say anymore to you when it comes to conversations about what you are doing and, more importantly, how you’re doing. Helping your family understand what this transition really means can make a big difference between feeling isolated and finding your footing together as a family.
