It's Tooth-Fact-Tuesday at Dental Associates!

Toothaches occur when the innermost layer of the tooth (dental pulp) becomes inflamed. The pulp is made up of sensitive nerves and blood vessels. Dental pulp can become inflamed as a result of tooth decay – this leads to holes (cavities) forming in the hard surface of the tooth.

If you need a tooth extracted, why might you need bone packed in the extraction site?

Bone packing, or bone grafting, after tooth extraction is done to stimulate bone growth in the extraction site and to prevent bone loss, also known as bone atrophy. This procedure is often recommended when future dental implants or other restorations are planned, as it provides a solid foundation for these procedures.

It's Tooth-Fact-Tuesday at Dental Associates!

A dental crown is often needed after a root canal to protect and strengthen the tooth, preventing it from fracturing or further damage. The root canal procedure removes the nerve and pulp, leaving the tooth more fragile and susceptible to damage. A crown acts as a cap, covering the tooth and providing support.
