Team members from Healing Paths & Wellness and the Southeastern Graduate Program in Counseling took a field trip this weekend to visit one of our former classmate’s practice, Patchwork Grove Counseling & Wellness.

They offer Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). This therapeutic modality incorporates horses (and other equids) into the session, utilizing horses’ innate ability to connect with and respond to humans on an emotional level. This therapeutic method can be used in conjunction with talk therapy as well!

🧘‍♀️ Feeling overwhelmed? Try Box Breathing. 🧘‍♂️
Box breathing is a simple technique used by athletes, first responders, and therapists alike to reduce stress and bring calm to the mind and body. 🧠💚

Here’s how it works:
🔲 Inhale for 4 seconds
🔲 Hold your breath for 4 seconds
🔲 Exhale for 4 seconds
🔲 Hold again for 4 seconds
Repeat for 3–5 rounds, or until your nervous system says thank you.

It’s called “box” breathing because all four steps are equal—just like the sides of a box. 📦 This technique is great for grounding during anxiety, helping with focus, or resetting after a stressful moment.
