ADHD isn’t just something that affects kids.

In fact, about 5% of adults—over 11 million people in the US—are living with ADHD, and many don’t even realize it.

For some, it was never diagnosed in childhood.
For others, symptoms became more noticeable as life became more demanding... work, relationships, responsibilities.

Adult ADHD can show up as:
• Difficulty focusing
• Feeling overwhelmed easily
• Trouble staying organized
• Restlessness or mental fatigue

And it’s often misunderstood.

The good news? Once it’s identified, it can be managed.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we work with ADULTS OF ALL AGES to better understand their symptoms, determine if ADHD may be a factor, and, when appropriate, help manage it with personalized treatment plans, including medication and ongoing support.

Ever wondered “could this be ADHD?”

Depression in women isn’t just emotional.
It’s often biological.

Hormones, life transitions, and the mental load many women carry can all play a role.

And for some women, depression shows up during specific stages of life.

It can look like:
• Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) — more intense emotional and physical symptoms before your cycle
• Perinatal depression — during pregnancy or after childbirth, often beyond what’s described as the “baby blues”
• Perimenopausal depression — during the transition into menopause, when hormonal shifts can impact mood, energy, and mental clarity

That’s why symptoms don’t always look the same, and why treatment shouldn’t either.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to mental health.

We work with women at all stages of life to better understand what they’re experiencing and create a plan that actually fits. 🩷

Anxiety is not always a panic attack.

Sometimes it looks like:
• The overthinking.
• The short temper.
• The stomach issues.
• The exhaustion.
• The racing thoughts at night.
• The constant feeling that something is wrong, even when you cannot explain why.

If this sounds familiar, it may be time to stop minimizing what you are carrying.

Motherhood looks different for everyone.

It’s early mornings, long days, quiet moments, and everything in between.
It’s caring deeply for others, and sometimes learning how to care for yourself too.

Today, we’re celebrating all the ways “mom” shows up...
through love, support, patience, and presence.

To the moms, the stepmoms, the pet moms, the ones in the thick of it, and the ones who make it look easy (even when it’s not)… we see you.

Happy Mother’s Day 🤍

"Teenagers are just moody.” 🥺

We hear that a lot… but it’s not always that simple.

Yes, mood swings can be part of growing up.
But when a teen starts to feel consistently sad, withdrawn, irritable, or unlike themselves, that’s something different.

Depression in teens doesn’t always look like sadness.
Sometimes it shows up as anger, isolation, lack of motivation, or changes in sleep and behavior.

And it’s often missed.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression can affect how teens think, feel, and function, and it may not go away on its own.

The most important thing to know:
They’re not being dramatic.
And they’re not trying to make things harder.

They may not have the words to explain what they’re feeling but that doesn’t make it any less real.

If you’re a parent and something feels off, trust that instinct.
If you’re a teen reading this --> you’re not alone, and help is available.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we work with adolescents (12+) and adults to better understand what’s going on and create a plan that actually helps.

“Why wasn’t I diagnosed earlier?”
It’s a question I hear often and the answer is rarely simple.

For many adults, especially women, ADHD was never on anyone’s radar growing up.
They were seen as “quiet,” “daydreamers,” “emotional,” or even just “doing fine.”

Some had supportive environments that helped them compensate.
Others developed coping mechanisms that worked… until life got more demanding.

And then something shifts.

For many women, that shift happens during perimenopause and menopause.

Hormonal changes can impact focus, memory, mood, and mental clarity making underlying ADHD symptoms more noticeable (or harder to manage than ever before).

Suddenly, things that once felt manageable don’t anymore.
And it can feel confusing, frustrating, and even discouraging.

But here’s the important part:
It’s not too late to understand what’s going on.

Getting the right diagnosis and support can change how you experience your day-to-day life in a meaningful way.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we work with adults at all stages of life to better understand symptoms like these and create a treatment plan that actually fits.

There is no age limit on feeling better. 🫶

If you’ve tried therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or pushing through and still feel stuck, YOU ARE NOT FAILING.

Some adults live with treatment-resistant depression, which means symptoms have not improved enough after trying multiple antidepressants. At Serene Health & Wellness, we help patients understand what options may be available, including SPRAVATO® (esketamine) for eligible adults.

If you’re tired of pretending you’re fine, this may be the conversation that changes everything.

Life can feel heavy sometimes and not all of it is the same.

Stress is something we all experience.
It’s your mind and body responding to something external... work, school, relationships, big life changes, or even things happening in the world around you.

And sometimes, that stress passes.

But anxiety is different.
It can linger... even when there’s no clear reason.
It’s that constant sense of worry, tension, or uneasiness that doesn’t just go away—and over time, it can start to affect your sleep, your energy, your focus, and even your physical health.

I see this a lot. People trying to push through it, thinking it’s “just stress,” when their body is actually asking for more support.

A few small ways to start coping:
• Take breaks from constant input (news, social, noise)
• Get outside—even for a few minutes
• Focus on simple routines (sleep, meals, movement)
• Talk to someone you trust
• And most importantly—pay attention to how you’re feeling

You don’t have to wait until it gets overwhelming to take it seriously.
If you’re not sure what you’re experiencing, or it’s starting to interfere with your day-to-day life, we’re here to help you figure that out.

Menopause + ADHD: a connection that doesn’t get talked about enough. 🤷‍♀️

Many women begin noticing new or worsening ADHD-like symptoms during perimenopause and menopause—brain fog, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, mental fatigue, or feeling overwhelmed. This isn’t a coincidence.

Studies suggest that estrogen plays a critical role in cognitive function, and as estrogen levels decline, attention, memory, and executive functioning can be affected. For some women, this means ADHD symptoms may appear for the first time during menopause even if they were never an issue earlier in life.

What makes this especially frustrating?
Many healthcare providers are hesitant to evaluate or prescribe ADHD medications for patients over 50.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we regularly see and support patients over 50 who are experiencing ADHD symptoms that emerged or intensified during menopause. We take the time to listen, evaluate thoughtfully, and explore appropriate treatment options, including medication when clinically appropriate.

If you’re thinking, “This isn’t how my brain used to work,” you’re not imagining it and you’re not alone.

You deserve care at any stage of life! Reach out to see if an evaluation may be right for you.
