O’Byrne Eye Clinic - Our Story

The O’Byrne Eye Clinic has been a proud provider of the Ophthalmology services and vision care products since 1976 and was founded by Dr. Alvaro O’Byrne in New Orleans East. In 1985, his daughter, Dr. Marilu O’Byrne, joined the practice and the two worked side by side until her father’s retirement in 1991. In 1993, her brother, Dr. AJ O’Byrne, joined the practice and the two siblings worked together until 2005, when Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area. This caused the clinic to relocate to the Northshore, opening offices in both Mandeville and Slidell in 2006, where she now sees patients with the help of Dr. Jennifer Vallelungo. We want to help you achieve and maintain clear vision for years to come.

At the clinic, we specialize in advanced technology eye care for the entire family, from the special visual needs of children to basic vision problems; from customized basic vision correction to premium cataract surgery with the state of the art intraocular lenses as well as the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of eye diseases, conditions and problems.
