Ch-Ch-Ch CHANGES
Winding down a blazing hot summer, we've had a bit of relief with milder weather. Mother Nature reminding us once again, ready or not, change is in the air. I'm ready. Cool, crisp days are more than welcome. Fall temps are knocking on the door, and I ain't mad.
Change isn't always easy. But change is always happening. Sometimes by choice, sometimes not. Seasons change. Landscapes change. Circumstances change. We change.
Maybe things that once seemed okay no longer work for us. We may not know exactly when the shift came about. More importantly is that we know we feel disjointed, and we move towards balance.
"Change the chemistry."
I heard that line during the first season of The Bear and I immediately adopted it. Much like another favorite, "The body keeps the score." And while I haven't read the book, that title sure speaks volumes.
We have a fall trip planned that we typically drive. The thought of 2 long days getting there (and then 2 more getting back) was making me uneasy. I already felt exhausted with road lag just thinking about it. And any time we'd talk about the trip, my stomach would churn and I felt anxious. My tummy has always been a strong indicator when something is off. Even as a child. And though the drive may not have bothered me before, it was bothering me now. We made the decision to fly. My aches and angst were replaced with excitement and enthusiasm.
The chemistry changed.
We innately know what's right for us. If it's not a full body yes for me, then it's a no. It's vital to stay tuned in, mentally and physically. Keep your mind-body connection channel clear. Pay attention to your unique signals. What works for me isn't necessarily the right fit for someone else. My body, my temple. Your body, your temple.
Trust what you feel. Question the voice telling you to cling to old ways of doing things. Does this still serve who I am today? Change what needs changing.
🎵 Time may change me
But I can't trace time 🎵
