SEE THE LIGHT

🎵 But I won't, won't
Be losing my way, no, no
Long as I can see the light 🎵

I visited Saint Joseph Abbey last week. I hadn't been in several years. Saint Joseph Abbey is a Benedictine community of monks located on 1,100 peaceful acres. It's a special place, and there's a sense of serenity the moment you arrive.

I took this picture of a familiar bench. When I said goodbye to my sweet Bailey in 2014, I felt incredibly lost. Coming here helped. I would sit on this very bench and talk to Bailey, and to God. And cry. There was always a sparkle of light on the pond seeming to offer up hope. And though I was too blinded by darkness to make much sense of anything, light slowly found its way back in.

As I drove onto the grounds the other day, a lot of emotion came up. I could see (and feel) my wounded self sobbing on the bench. My heart felt the tug of that same tremendous ache. But I was also overcome with feelings of gratitude. Gratitude for the beauty. Gratitude for this place of healing. Gratitude for the light.

Nature is a healer and great soother to the nervous system. I'll take listening to birds over television any day. Every day. The volume of the world doesn't have to be where I tune in. I decide.

Spring brings the gift of longer light, renewal, and hope. Open the doors and windows. Go outside. Seek out the light. Feel the light. Be the light.

~ May the long-time sun
Shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light
Within you
Guide your way on ~

Love, Lisa
