ehimeora Stillness is not the absence of the divine, stillness is the presence of the Creator’s love—raw and unfiltered. As this year softly comes to an end, many of us find ourselves in this realm of quiet with resentment. We’re bitter in this silent space; anxious about being present in an environment so hushed, that our thoughts echo and ricochet onto each other. We start believing in the worst, inhaling thoughts of ancestral abandonment and neglect into our hearts. This is, of course, only an illusion.

A Yoruba proverb says, “A person who waits patiently for a long time before eating will not eat unwholesome food.” Patience is not a punishment, it’s simply the precursor to beautiful moments. Maybe we’re not sitting ducks who twiddle their thumbs while the world moves around us, maybe we’re artists. Painters, that are carefully deciding which colors to cover their canvas next.

Intuition and imagination go together. Perhaps it’s within this vehicle of loss and quiet, that we receive creative instructions from the divine above. Hold onto your creativity, so the universe can hold onto you, too.

ehimeora Eku ose Oya. A late night prayer for those of us slowly emerging from the in-between stage. We give thanks to Oya, and the way she changes the tide through squall and lightning.

Oya is the transitionary point. She arrives in our lives during times of yearning, when we pray softly to ourselves for new beginnings and victory. Surrendering our past allows her an opening to our hearts, where she revitalizes us by resurrecting our spirits. Through her, we experience the blessings of second chances. May the wind guide us towards a life that feels the most free. Ase.

ehimeora Ancestors told me to tell you something, so I’m telling you. The past has passed, I need you to live again. Please don’t spend the current moment looking back on what’s behind you.

You are cute now, you are pretty now, you are smart now. Find the courage to move on, now. Don’t let end-of-year rumination turn into self-resentment. You’ve done the best you can. Rest.

We give thanks to Ifá, the corpus divination system given to us by the Creator themselves!

Within it we have spiritual medicine and remedies, like akose!
