My friend sent me this text today. My heart is bursting with sadness. As a Latina and child of immigrant parents and a clinical psychologist, I feel a duty to speak out against this injustice and hatred. The trauma that is being inflicted upon my people will forever impact our life. Hate is so ugly no matter where it is expressed, whether it’s here in Los Angeles or in Palestine! It’s the same ugly hate.

I’m so grateful to be with my family on this Mother’s Day. My heart goes out to all the moms that are unable to be with their children.

Today I think of all the moms who have been forcibly separated from their family due to heinous deportation acts. I also remember the mom’s in Gaza that have had to witnessed the horrific death of their own children.

Yes, I am fortunate but my heart is with all the moms that are suffering.

Peace and love to all of them. 💝
