Often associated with runners and older populations, plantar fasciitis is often an overuse injury primarily due to a repetitive strain causing micro-tears of the plantar fascia. When the pain becomes severe enough, it can negatively affect daily life.

Also referred to as steroid injections, these are anti-inflammatory medicines are injected into a joint or other part of the body to treat problems such as chronic pain, arthritis, sciatica, and more.

Steroid injections are also used to treat pain associated with osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout.

Receiving injections doesn't take long, but it is recommended that you rest for at least 24 hours before resuming normal activities.

Ligaments attach bone to bone and provide stability to a joint. An injury to the ligament is called a sprain, and there are 3 grades of injury:

-Grade I sprain is an injury to the substance of the ligament causing pain but minimal or no instability
-Grade II sprain is a stretch injury to the ligament with a partial tear causing moderate instability
-Grade III sprain is a complete tear of the ligament and is associated with significant instability
