Some knees are only worn out on the inside half. Many surgeons will still perform a total knee replacement. I believe a partial or unicondylar replacement is better in these cases for many reasons: more natural-feeling knee, faster recovery with less pain and ability to perform many more activities without loss of bone. These are some of my happiest patients. If your surgeon says you need a total knee, see us for a second opinion. A partial replacement might be better for YOU! I have been performing knee reconstructions for 30 years.
