We're still partying and celebrating Home Care Aide Appreciation Week! Today we’re shining the spotlight on Einar Vargas, a dedicated Home Health Aide who has been part of the Meadowlark team for over a year.

Einar is inspired by Meadowlark’s focus on individuality, independence, and meaningful relationships. What he loves most about working here? “Being a part of a community that truly feels like home.” He finds joy in watching residents thrive in an environment where they are valued, respected, and connected.

As a Home Health Aide, Einar cherishes the one-on-one connections he builds each day. He’s honored by the trust residents place in him and finds deep purpose in helping others maintain their independence, comfort, and dignity. His compassion, teamwork, and commitment shine through in every interaction.

When he’s not making a difference at Meadowlark, Einar enjoys recharging with friends, family, and his puppy, Bogey. You can often find him outdoors, listening to music, or cheering loudly for K-State!

Thank you, Einar, for the joy, dedication, and heart you bring to our community. We’re grateful for you — today and every day!

This week, Meadowlark was honored to host a combined Ladies Luncheon and Chamber Women in Business Luncheon, welcoming more than 60 women from across the community!

Our guest speaker, Cindy Lerick from K-State’s Hospitality Management program, shared thoughtful guidance on holiday etiquette — those unspoken rules of business lunches, workplace celebrations, and seasonal gatherings that can make a lasting impression.

Attending this month’s Women in Business Gratitude Luncheon proved to be a meaningful investment in professional presence. Participants walked away with practical tips that build confidence, strengthen client relationships, and elevate how we show up during the busy holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Cindy for helping us navigate the small moments that create big connections! Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce

Congratulations to Sami Bell, Stolzer House CNA, for being selected as Meadowlark's Employee of the Month for November!

Sami has been with Meadowlark only a few months, but she’s already exceeded expectations. Her nominator shared that she is a reliable, flexible teammate, a strong communicator during evening shifts, and a go-to trainer for new employees. She shows exceptional compassion with cognitively impaired residents and brings great attention to detail. Sami plans to pursue nursing school, and we can’t wait to see her grow!

✨ Big thanks to Meritrust Credit Union for sponsoring our Employee of the Month!

Happy Home Care Aide Week! Meet Nathalia, whose Meadowlark journey began when she was just 17! Since then, she’s earned her CNA and HHA certifications and will be finishing nursing school in just two months.

“The people — staff and residents alike — are so kind! Meadowlark has supported me as a solo parent balancing school and work, and I’m so grateful for the flexibility and growth opportunities.”

Nathalia loves connecting with residents, hearing their incredible life stories, and providing care that helps them feel supported — whether on or off campus.

When she’s not studying or working, you’ll find her cooking with her 3-year-old or crafting with her Cricut machine!

✨ Big Questions. Big Conversations. The Big Why. ✨

Our fall Big Why Lecture Series is off to a powerful start! This past Tuesday, author, musician, and teaching artist Nate McClendon led the first session, exploring the question “Why is grief so complicated?” Through his personal story and creative insight, Nate invited us to reflect deeply on loss, love, and healing.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined this meaningful conversation — and we can’t wait for the next three sessions as we continue to explore the big whys shaping our lives and community.

🗓️ Upcoming Topics:
➡️ Nov. 5 – “Why Can’t People Just Get a Job?” with Scott Voos & Stephanie Grynkiewicz, Be Able Manhattan
➡️ Nov. 12 – “Why Aren’t People Going to Church?” with Rev. Melanie Nord

On Saturday, Oct. 18, our halls were transformed into galleries for the Meadowlark Art Festival, where residents showcased their incredible talents — from woodworking and pottery to painting, jewelry, and more.

Each piece told a story of imagination, skill, and heart. Thank you to all who shared their artistry and to everyone who came to celebrate creativity in our community. At Meadowlark, inspiration truly lives around every corner.
