The 17th annual Speedy PD Race for Parkinson’s Disease is Saturday, Aug. 23, at Tuttle Creek State Park. The race features a Half-Mile Walk/Run, Don Rasmussen 5K, and a 10K race. This year, we are excited to announce a partnership with Manhattan Running Company, providing race directing, logistics, and timing services. This week we’re excited to spotlight Alex Borjas, a valued member of our Hospitality Team! Alex brings kindness, creativity, and a big heart to everything she does here at Meadowlark.

Fun Fact: “I’m the oldest of eight siblings — so you could say I’ve had lots of practice looking out for others!”

A Meaningful Memory: “There are so many little moments, but one that stands out is when a resident asked me to help make some copies. I noticed they looked a little messy, so I recreated them in Word to make them neat. When I showed him, he was so grateful and excited—it was such a small thing, but his appreciation meant the world. Moments like that make going the extra mile so rewarding.”

Favorite Part of the Job: “I love **getting to know the residents — they’re always so grateful, encouraging, and full of fun stories. When you take the time to listen, you realize they’re truly a treasure trove of wisdom and joy.”

Outside of Work: “When I’m not doom scrolling my life away (IYKYK 😅), I love gardening! This is the first year I’ve gotten all the little flower beds around my apartment to bloom—it’s been so awesome!”
