Last week, Detectives Riat and Albin, at the Wamego Police Department helped update their buildings supply of information about free and confidential services available to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through The Crisis Center, Inc.. Brand new posters replaced all of the outdated materials, brochures and handouts for the community members were restocked.
Thank you, Wamego Police Department for sharing our information with all those who may want to speak with someone about domestic violence and sexual assault.
The Crisis Center, Inc. serves Pottawatomie, Riley, Geary, Marshall, Clay and Fort Riley through victim advocates who build strong and lasting relationships with multiple community partners.

Parents,

School is almost starting and I want to ask you a favor… Sit down with your child for 5 minutes and explain that there is no reason to make fun of someone for their height their weight the color of their skin or how they wear their hair or anything else etc. There's nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes 👞 👟 or clothes every day. Explain to them that a used backpack 🎒 carries the same dreams as a new one. That not every person has the same means available to them. Please teach them not to exclude anyone for "being different" or not having the same possibilities as another. Tell them that if someone asks to play with them to kindly say yes! Explain to them that teasing hurts... and that school is for going to LEARN, NOT to compete ❤️ You and I are worth the same!!!! Education starts at home‼️

Don’t create your own trauma and drama ‼️

“Remember that thoughts are just mental events, like clouds passing through the sky of your mind. Having a thought doesn't make you morally responsible for it, and it definitely doesn't give you supernatural powers over reality.

When you catch yourself fusing thoughts with actions, gently remind yourself: "That's just a thought. It has no power over what actually happens."

Practice observing your thoughts without judgment, like watching a movie you didn't choose but don't need to turn off either.”

“Bring it into your day: Notice if you're carrying something heavy from yesterday. Acknowledge that it happened, but then ask yourself:

"What do I want to do with tomorrow because of what I learned yesterday?"
Today, make one small decision that's focused on creating rather than correcting. You can't recover yesterday, but you can absolutely influence what tomorrow looks like.”
