The more you know!

While Halloween is widely known for costumes and trick-or-treating, it is also one of the most dangerous nights of the year for impaired driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 29% of traffic fatalities on Halloween involve a drunk driver, and pedestrian deaths rise by nearly 43% compared to an average night.

Why the spike?
More parties and late-night events with alcohol
Dark costumes and reduced visibility
More pedestrians in residential areas
“It’s just a short drive” mentality

Who is most at risk?
Children and pedestrians. On Halloween night, kids are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car as on any other day of the year.

What helps prevent DUI crashes?
Plan a sober ride or use a rideshare
Drive slowly through neighborhoods
Hosts: offer non-alcoholic options and ensure guests get home safely

Halloween should be fun — not tragic.
