Winter Solstice Greetings! Thanks to those who were able to join us last night in the cold & dark magic of Riverside Park along the shores of the Muheakantuck (Hudson) River. We warmed our hearts and released the debris from 2022 into the fire. Here are some random thoughts about this season of darkness…
By consciously linking our awareness to the rhythm of nature we can deepen the understanding of our own personal growth cycles.
This has been a hard year for myself and many of you as well - tending loved ones, recovering health and healing from losses, both personal and global. As we enter this season of the Winter Solstice, and it’s approaching darkness, let us ask the Spirit of Fire to burn away the leftover debris of our suffering. From darkness and despair comes Hope, but also weariness. We ask this Fire to bring us power and strength to survive the unknown of what is yet to come in our world of turmoil. By releasing our fears and surrendering to the power of the Universe we can then embrace each day with clarity, feeling connection with our place in the vast universe, fully present to the gift of divine love, secure in knowing that our lives and the actions we take make a difference.
During the winter months nature lies dormant in the silent earth. This is a sacred time of rest and reflection, inner gestation, listening to the deep silence within and without, before the awakening and the slow return of brighter days.
The black silhouette of trees against a midnight sky invite us to embrace our shadows, knowing that we will eventually move towards the light. It is from the darkness and silence of a winter forest that we can quiet our minds and tap into truths that drift upwards like sparks from a fire. The yearnings of our soul give rise to inspirations that incubate during the cold months, emerging with the warmth of Springtime sunshine.
