Today was a historic day for cannabis in America.
For 54 years, the federal government claimed ma*****na had no accepted medical use.
That claim justified prohibition, arrests, blocked research, restricted banking, and policies that punished responsible businesses and patients alike.
Today, that officially changed.
With the signing of the Executive Order reclassifying ma*****na from Schedule I to Schedule III, the federal government has formally acknowledged what science, patients, and business owners have known for decades:
👉 Cannabis has accepted medical use.
This is not legalization — but it is a fundamental shift in how this plant is viewed under federal law.
⸻
What this means
Once cannabis is Schedule III:
• It sits in the same federal category as certain prescription medications
• The outdated narrative surrounding prohibition begins to break down
• Federal enforcement priorities continue to move away from criminalization and toward regulation
This validates what many responsible operators and consumers have already been experiencing on the ground.
⸻
Why this matters for Kansas
Kansas law still lists ma*****na as Schedule I.
But now:
• Federal law says Schedule III
• Science recognizes medical use
• Nearly 70% of Kansans support legalization
• Every surrounding state has moved forward
That contradiction can’t last forever.
This Executive Order removes one of the biggest barriers Kansas lawmakers have relied on — “federal law” — and forces an honest conversation about modern, responsible cannabis policy in our state.

H**p and cannabis: the same plant
At Top Shelf CBD, we’ve always believed in science-based, responsible regulation.
H**p and ma*****na are the same plant — separated by law, not biology.
This moment strengthens the case for:
• Rational, unified cannabis regulation
• Clear standards instead of fear-based enforcement
• Protecting compliant businesses that do things the right way
⸻
We’re proud to have stayed compliant, transparent, and committed to our community — even when the rules didn’t make sense.
Today feels like progress.
