Jackie Prete, a Certified Anusara Yoga teacher, shares her passion for the core teachings of yoga philosophy, therapeutics and precise alignment with her students in NYC, Europe, and Japan for over 24 years. Jackie currently chairs the Certification committee for the new teacher-led Anusara School of Hatha Yoga. Jackie is a Certified Yoga Health Coach bringing the teachings of Ayurveda and Yoga to students all over the world. Her teleconference course, The Body Evolves, dramatically shifts her student’s relationship to their own vibrant well being. Jackie is a Licensed Massage Therapist and brings her healing touch, her knowledge of therapeutics, anatomy and proper biomechanics to her classes and training programs. Her classes support all students from beginners to advanced practitioners recover from injuries and celebrate this grand adventure called Life! Jackie is also dedicated to building cooperative and loving yoga communities where ever she teaches. Since 2001 she has led and co-led many 200 hour teacher training programs, retreats, workshops, and therapy training programs in NYC, Italy, Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica and Japan. Jackie is honored to co-lead many programs with Rudrani Farbman of the World Yoga Center in NYC. Jackie acknowledges her main teachers Paul Muller- Ortega, Mary Dunn, Genny Kapular, (Iyengar) John Friend, Zhenja LaRosa, Desiree Rumbaugh, and Ellen Saltonstall.

When she first came to me, she said,
“I don’t know why… I just don’t think I want to do this.”

But what she really meant was:
“I’m scared. I’ve fallen. My body feels unreliable. I’m overwhelmed.”

Today?
She moves with strength.
Her inflammation is down.
She sleeps.
She feels capable again.

The difference wasn’t motivation.

We were in the Catskills just before the blizzard hit.

Kaaterskill Falls was completely frozen.

The water that usually rushes down the rocks was suspended in ice — thick, solid, unshakable. Everything was still. The air was sharp. The sky felt heavy with what was coming.

Standing there, I felt small next to that wall of ice.

But I also felt strong.

The waterfall hadn’t disappeared. It hadn’t given up. It had simply changed form. Beneath the ice, water was still moving. Waiting. Enduring.

The storm was on its way. Snow would cover the trails. Winds would shake the trees.

And yet the mountain stood.
The falls stood.
And so did we.

Resilience isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it looks like standing firm before the storm.

That day at Kaaterskill Falls, frozen in the Catskill Mountains, I was reminded:

We can endure hard seasons.
We can hold steady.
And when the thaw comes — we flow again.

Healing asked me to slow down.
To listen.
To trust the intelligence within my own body.

When I committed fully to the 10 health habits of the Vibrant Living Tribe, my recovery shifted in ways even my surgeon couldn’t explain. What looked like limitation became initiation.

This Spring, I’ll be gathering in San Francisco for the 2026 Anusara Yoga Conference—alongside beloved teachers, scholars, and practitioners from around the world.

This is more than a conference. It’s a remembering. A return to the heart of practice. A place where wisdom is shared, devotion is felt, and community becomes medicine.

There is nothing wrong with you for feeling tired, overwhelmed, or disconnected.
Often, it is simply a sign that your body has been asked to carry more than it was meant to hold.

Healing does not arrive through force or discipline.
