“Many philosophers and scientists alike have claimed that consciousness has a cinematographic nature. When we project a film, it appears to be something continuous and long-lasting. But we know that the film consists of separate pictures that last only a fraction of a second. Consciousness is like that; it’s only a flash, lasting just one millisecond. And because moments of consciousness succeed each other continuously, we have the impression that consciousness is something long-lasting. In fact. the permanent nature of consciousness is just an illusion.

It’s like a flame on the tip of a candle. You think that the flame is the same flame as a moment before, but that’s not true. There’s a succession of many flames, one after another, that give the impression of a fixed identity. The flame of this moment gives rise to the flame of the next moment. And the flame of the next moment gives rise to the flame of the following moment.

In Buddhism, there is another beautiful illustration of this. At night, someone holds a torch and draws a circle in the air with it in the dark. If they are doing the movement quickly and you are standing at a distance, you have the impression that there is a circle of fire. But, in fact, there is only a succession of points of flame. The circle of fire is only an optical illusion. Permanence is an illusion, and the basic mistake is to believe that we have a consciousness, or a soul, that is always the same. Everything is impermanent.

Mentally and physically, you are of a cinematographic nature; you are reborn in every instant. You are renewed in every instant to become a new person, a new being. And if you know how to do it, your renewal is beautiful. With karma, you can assure a better, more beautiful continuation. If you know how to handle your thinking, your speech, and your actions, you will become more beautiful. The fact is that you don’t need to wait until you die in order to see what happens to you. Look in the present moment and see that birth and death are going on in you at every moment, both in your body and in your consciousness.”

Beautiful Samhain has arrived.
The bright half of the year has fallen away.

Summer’s green abundance has turned to mulch and memory.
Now the land exhales, its pulse spiralling inward,
its breath sinking into soil.
And we, too, are asked to turn inward.
To follow the roots into the deep, toward the wordless places within, where the old songs hum in the dark and the seeds of new life dream themselves awake.
This is the true beginning.
Not the golden uprising of spring,
but the quiet beginning, the one that stirs beneath everything, in the dark where life is made.

This is a time to not only descend into our own soul, but to look back at the soil we have come from, the soil of our ancestors,
the stories and compost they left behind,
and the lessons we can learn from their journeys.
It is time to honour all that lies in the darkness,
and sing the songs of roots, bones, and seeds.

To remember that descent is not an ending,
but the way all life begins again.

“Sarvangasana and its variations are useful for developing a healthy mind. The nervous system is calmed and one is freed from hypertension, irritability, nervous breakdown and insomnia. They are a boon for combating the stresses and strains of our daily life. They give vitality and self-confidence.

The inverted position of the body in all these asanas assists the flow of impure blood (venous blood) to the heart and in its purification.

Meditation: It’s Not What You Think 🧘‍♀️

This image beautifully shows the journey of meditation. Many people believe meditation means “stopping thoughts” or “forcing the mind to be silent.” But that’s a misconception.

At first, when you sit, the mind feels louder than ever—thoughts about work, family, memories, worries, desires—all rushing in. That’s not failure, that’s awareness. You are simply noticing what was always there.

With practice, you begin to:
✨ Observe thoughts without judgment.
✨ Let them rise and fall like waves in the ocean.
✨ Discover that you are not your thoughts—you are the awareness behind them.

Then, peace arises. 🌿
Meditation isn’t about having an empty mind. It’s about freedom from being trapped in it. It’s about living with clarity, compassion, and calm.

💡 You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

🧘 Instructions for Practice

1. Ānāpāna Meditation (Awareness of Breath):

Sit in a quiet place with your back straight.

Close your eyes gently.

Focus your attention on the natural breath at the tip of your nose.

Don’t control the breath—just observe it coming in and going out.

If the mind wanders, gently bring it back to the breath.

2. Mindfulness Meditation (Vipassanā practice base):

Sit comfortably and become aware of the present moment.

Notice your breath, body sensations, sounds, or thoughts.

Don’t cling to anything and don’t push anything away—just observe.

If you notice emotions, label them softly (e.g., “anger,” “joy,” “thinking”) and let them pass.

Return to awareness of the present moment again and again.

Start with 5–10 minutes daily and gradually increase.

🌸 Meditation is not escape—it’s training the mind to live fully awake.

Dear Yoga - you’ve changed my life..
