Welcome Lucy !!!

This sweet girl was found a stray covered in fleas and skin infections, curled up on a family's porch one morning. After all efforts to see if she had belonged to someone, nothing came of it. She had no microchip. 😢

So I sent a message to one of our past director that just loved the little border collie mixes like her, and she was happy to foster.

Lucy is just darling! Loves everyone and everything... especially her toys and new foster brother.

She has had a journey !
Thank you to the family that found her and took such great care of her, until we could move her into rescue.

Today the babies are 2 weeks old !
Eyes open but they can't see to far. They are still staying in the hut but scootin' around. They are just ardorable !

We just love how mama Penelope is such a good mama and friendly. She lets us handle them. This helps us make sure they are gaining weight and alert. So far so good, healthy babies !!

Miss Penelope had 4 baby kittens yesterday.
So far she is doing a great job! Everytime we check on her, she has to make sure to get some love from us. She is such a sweet cat. Eventhough she was found outside, she will make a good house cat.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!! The weather is amazing !

While Tim was getting the dogs out on this gorgeous day, I was running around with an adoption of 2 kittens, April and Octo !!! LOVE when families adopt two babies. They have eachother and build a great bond!

April, now named Binxy, and Octo are very lucky kitties !! We wish them all the best !

Then I ran to meet a women that has been caring for this pregnant mama that just showed up at her home out in the country. PENELOPE !! we feel this young gal was dump out in the country, she is super friendly !! Since Mama June has found her a loving barn placement, we have room for Penelope.

So the countdown starts ..... babies on the way!

When cats and kittens get homes, it opens up space for more to be saved. So PLEASE keep sharing our adoptable cats and dogs!!

🚨Animal Rescues Are Suffering! 🚨

With rising costs of living and vet prices, owning a pet is becoming quite expensive. We want to be as transparent as possible in hopes of encouraging those who are able to help rescues, to do so.

Here at Promise Rescue, our adoption fee to adopt a kitten is $175. For each HEALTHY kitten that comes in, we pay the following (and yes this is discounted rescue pricing):

Health Exam: $39
Spay: $143 OR Neuter: $121
F***l Test: $42
3 Standard De-wormings at $13 each: $39
4 FVRCP (feline distemper) boosters at $24 each: $96
Felv/FIV test: $32
Rabies Vaccine: $16

Total vet costs: $407 for females and $385 for males. Again, we charge $175!
These totals do not include if the kitten has any type of sickness, or food and litter.

This is why we need your help! We lose money on each animal we bring in. We try our hardest to not raise adoption prices, and when we do, people are upset saying we charge too much. We are at a loss of what to do to help!

📣 THURSDAY UPDATE ON BELLA!! 📣

Bella had her first vet visit with Dr. B at Plainfield Veterinary Clinic this evening! Good news is-- doc doesn't feel that her leg is fractured. He said it is likely that there is some type of soft tissue tear in her elbow, and that her hips and pelvis look good. He's happy that we have been able to get her swelling to go down, and said she needs some good R&R. She is to continue on a course of antibiotics, and some high quality food so she can build up her immune system and get stronger, and he will re-assess her at the point.

UPDATE on Bella !
She is a fighter. I was worried Sunday night in Monday morning. She was soooo dehydrated, not eating, and her breathing from the upper respiratory was really bad. ALSO the fleas were the worst I have seen in a LONG time.. AND her fractured leg.... that is a huge factor. This little baby had every odd against her. She still kept getting up to greet me at the cage door. So since she kept fighting, I kept fighting with her.

Syringe feeding, Viralys ( great immune gel supplement), eye ointment, antibiotics, sub q's , and trying to get the fleas off her.
By Monday late afternoon, she was eating up her pate mix! Today kibble. I feed her small amount 4 times a day.

Still need prayers 🙏🙏
Xrays and vet on Thursday.

Meet Bella .. an unexpected intake today.

This sweet baby had an angel find her, then she called me.

I am a loss for words. She is skin and bones, pretty confident her hind leg is fracture ( it is swollen), and severe upper respiratory. My guess 10- 12 weeks. She weighs 1 lb. All our 10 week old kittens are now 3 + pounds.

She is strong and begging for love. Melts my heart.

Calls will be made in the morning to get her seen by our vet ASAP. As for now she is safe, comfy bed, food .. which she is not eating :(... did some syringe feeding and sub Q fluids, washed her face, eye ointment and antibiotics.
