🧬 Did You Know? A Baby’s Cells Stay with You—Literally. 🤰❤️

Recent research featured in The Atlantic reveals that during pregnancy, a baby’s cells can travel into the mother’s body—and stay there for decades. This phenomenon, called fetal microchimerism, means a little piece of your baby may remain in your heart, brain, or other organs long after birth.

This cellular connection might even play a role in healing and protecting the mother’s body in surprising ways. 🧠💓

Today we remember and celebrate Sandie Krogh on what would have been her birthday.

Sandie was a beloved part of The Crossing family—for many years as a dedicated staff member and more recently as a volunteer on our Finance Committee. She was generous with her time, her wisdom, and her laughter. Sandie had a vibrant personality, a quick wit, and a heart deeply anchored in her faith in Jesus.

Despite facing many health challenges, her determination and joy never wavered. She retired from her role at The Crossing more than once, only to return when there was a need—always ready to serve. She trained and mentored many of us, and her impact continues through the lives she shaped.

We’re sharing this collage of moments that capture the light and energy she brought to The Crossing. She is deeply missed, and we are so grateful for the time we had with her.

Your decision to support The Crossing of Manitowoc County—and the way you brought that idea to life —was nothing short of inspiring. You didn’t just host a donation drive. You rallied your school, organized every detail, and showed what young leaders are capable of when they care deeply and act boldly.

With the support of your classmates, families, and teachers, you collected a wide array of thoughtful donations that will truly make a difference for local families in Manitowoc County.

To every student who gave, shared, encouraged, or led—thank you. Your compassion and drive are a reminder that big change often starts with small, determined voices. We’re incredibly proud and deeply grateful.
