Healthiest Manitowoc County HMC provides collaborative leadership to improve the health of Manitowoc County.

A coalition of community leaders was formed in 2004 to identify and address Manitowoc County’s health concerns. Healthiest Manitowoc County (HMC), a community- based initiative, seeks to make positive changes in the health status of Manitowoc County residents. The HMC Steering Committee consists of representatives from many sectors of the community.

Spring Drug Take Back Event
April 25, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM at 2300 Western Ave., Manitowoc (Froedtert Holy Family).

We’re proud to partner with Froedtert Holy Family Memorial, Police Department, Manitowoc County Recycling Center & Compost Sites, and Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office to help our community safely dispose of unwanted medications.

✔️ Accepted Items
-Prescription medications
-Over‑the‑counter medications
- Ointments, Sprays, Inhalers, Vials, Herbals, and Pet Medication
-Controlled substances
-Supplements

📦 How to Prepare Your Items
-Place pills in a quart‑size or smaller Ziplock‑style bag. Pills can be mixed together.
-Liquids, cremes, and powders may stay in their original containers with caps
tightened.
-Do NOT bring pill bottles or boxes. Cross out personal info and dispose of or recycle
it at home.

❌ Items NOT Accepted
-Bio-hazardous Materials or Household Hazardous Waste
- Batteries
-Needles or sharps
-Mercury devices
-Chemical waste
-Electronic glucose monitors
-Personal care products (shampoo, cosmetics, etc.)

Safe disposal helps prevent misuse, protects our environment, and keeps medications out of the wrong hands. We appreciate the community’s continued participation.

On Wednesday we hosted our third Breaking Barriers Panel event. Focused on Housing Systems in Manitowoc County, inspiring and candid discussions took place with the help of many local agencies who came to rebuild empathy, explore barriers to getting or maintaining housing, and identify how we can come together to better serve the community.

A huge shoutout to our amazing panelist for sharing their stories and experiences with this group! You made this event such a success. Finally, thank you to UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus for allowing us to utilize your beautiful space.
