Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the rich cultures, deep traditions, and enduring strength of Indigenous communities across this land.

This day is a time to reflect on the true history of this country — the resilience in the face of displacement, erasure, and injustice — and to recognize the deep contributions Indigenous peoples have made to our society, our environment, and our collective future.

We celebrate the diversity of Indigenous nations, each with its own language, stories, and ways of life. We honor their stewardship of the land, their knowledge systems, and their unbroken connection to ancestry and tradition.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is not just about the past — it's about justice in the present and hope for the future. Indigenous voices matter. Their leadership matters. Their sovereignty matters.

Today and every day, let’s listen, learn, uplift, and stand in solidarity.

Recent announcements by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump have reignited harmful and unfounded claims linking autism to the use of acetaminophen. This rhetoric not only lacks credible scientific support but also perpetuates a dangerous narrative—that autism is a problem to be fixed rather than a natural part of human neurodiversity.

Let us be clear: individuals with autism and other neurocognitive differences are not broken. They are not tragedies. They are human beings who bring immense value, creativity, and innovation to our communities. To imply that their existence is the result of a medical error or environmental failure is to strip them of their dignity and humanity.

The diversity of human minds is not a flaw—it is a strength. Those with autism deserve respect, inclusion, and support—not scapegoating or pseudoscience. We call on all public figures to speak responsibly, to listen to the voices of the neurodivergent community, and to shift the conversation from blame to acceptance, from fear to understanding.
