Sevita has a longstanding partnership with ANCOR. Please join us as we support ANCOR in kicking off a social media day of action today to raise awareness of the dire situation facing community providers of I/DD services, and the critically needed investment proposed by the Disability Community Act.

Recently, several regulatory changes have been introduced that, without commensurate funding, would threaten the supports and services that community providers offer for people with disabilities. The is a vital piece of legislation that would invest in Medicaid I/DD services and help community providers avoid disruption of services that would be devastating to millions of people with disabilities in the US.

Staff and individuals at our East Interlaken program in Fairmont had a great time decorating the front window of their home for Valentine’s Day. This festive display not only brightens up the long gray days of the Minnesota winter, but brings joy to all. Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Cat, Linda, and Dawn participated in an ‘Elf in the Park’ activity in Fairmont. They went to parks and different places in the community in search of elves. They had a wonderful time together searching for elves and spreading holiday cheer with those they encountered along the way. At REM Heartland, we feel it is important to foster relationships and provide meaningful experiences for the individuals we support. We are so thankful for the team members who help pull off experiences like this and help to connect the individuals to the communities in which they live. Happy holidays!

Meet Direct Support Professional, Peter Taylor. Peter has been a part of the Heartland team for almost a year. He always puts the individuals and their needs first and sees them as a person, not a person with a disability. The individuals he supports respect him greatly for this. Peter is always willing to help out with extra tasks, extra shifts, and go the extra mile wherever it is needed. Peter quickly gained the trust and hearts of the individuals he supports with his quick sense of humor and many other admirable traits. Being cross-trained at multiple programs, Chris has been extra helpful in being willing to go where she is needed most. Meet Cindy Milne. Cindy is a Direct Support Professional in Fairmont, MN where she works at a single person site. She has been a part of the REM Heartland team for almost 24 years! Cindy constantly goes the extra mile for the individual that she supports. If Cindy says that she is going to do something, she does it efficiently and effectively. She has so much heart for the work that she does and everyone around her can feel her positive energy and the love that she puts into her work.
