In this video, Mackenzie flows through twisted shoulder raises, controlled rotational movements, and challenging upper body work using the dowel to fire up the arms, posture muscles, and entire midsection. One of Elizabeth’s absolute favorite exercises at Studio E Pilates Reformer, side pulls challenge your entire body while delivering that deep, satisfying stretch through the side body. In this video, Mackenzie, Elizabeth, and Kaitlyn demonstrate a variety of ways to perform this powerhouse move—each variation bringing its own burn, balance challenge, and muscle shake.

Side bends… but make them 🔥

In today’s Studio E Pilates Reformer series, we’re showing you just how versatile (and spicy) side bends can be.

✨ Mackenzie sets the foundation by loading the carriage with all springs and placing the box in short box position—creating the perfect, stable setup.

✨ Kaitlyn takes it into a beautiful traditional side bend, anchoring her right ankle under the foot strap and reaching her right arm toward the floor for that long, lengthened stretch.

✨ Elizabeth switches it up with a crossed ankle variation—tucking her left ankle behind her right—to challenge stability and fire deeper into the right oblique.

Same exercise… three totally different feels. That’s the magic of Pilates. Small changes = BIG results.
