Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree in 1849 from Geneva Medical College in upstate New York. In the early 1850s, Dr. Blackwell and two other female doctors, Dr. Marie Zakrzewska and Blackwell’s younger sister Dr. Emily Blackwell, established the New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children. Dr. Blackwell became a lifelong advocate for female doctors, and she continued to advocate for women in medicine until her death in 1910. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3NhFtsx

Be honest… did you floss today?

Flossing is one of those small habits that makes a big difference. It helps prevent gum disease, reduces cavities, improves bad breath, and even supports overall health. Skipping it may seem harmless… but gums remember.

At People’s Community Clinic, the dental team sees every day how preventive care changes lives. From routine cleanings to complex, life-restoring treatment, access to affordable dental care gives patients the confidence to smile, eat, work, and live without pain.

Your support helps Central Texans stay healthy for years to come.

A toothache shouldn’t cost someone their health or their confidence. šŸ¦·šŸ’™

When Mario came to People’s Community Clinic, he was already managing a chronic disease. But he was also living with constant dental pain. Eating hurt. Drinking hurt. Smiling? Forget it.

Without treatment, his condition could have led to infection and expensive procedures he couldn’t afford.

Instead of turning him away, Dr. Carlos Diaz, Director of Dental Services at People’s Community Clinic, took on his complex case. After full-mouth rehabilitation, Mario regained his health and confidence. For two years now, he hasn’t missed a follow-up appointment. He’s taking care of his health because someone like you made care accessible to him.

People’s provides medical, dental, and wraparound services to nearly 22,000 Central Texans each year, regardless of ability to pay. When donors invest in the community, people in the community are inspired to invest in themselves.

When you give directly to People’s, you help expand dental services and ensure more neighbors can live pain-free and smile with confidence.

People’s Tandem Teen & Prenatal Parenting Program serves over 100 participants a year with a repeat teen pregnancy rate below 3%, compared to 17-20% statewide.

ā€œThe program really helped me feel supported and more confident in managing my goals and providing support with parenting skills, and other needs like school and food resources. I also really appreciated how caring my Tandem case manager was.ā€
