BRC Healthcare

BRC Healthcare A family of addiction & mental health programs supporting individuals and families seeking recovery.

Addiction Resources - BRC Recovery is a gender specific, extended-care program specifically designed for the treatment resistant population. BRC Recovery offers a fully integrated continuum of care that includes residential intensive, high accountability transitional living, clinical services, and peer recovery support to treat the diseases of alcoholism and drug addiction. Addiction can be a chronic disease that requires a lifetime of dedication to overcome. At BRC Recovery, we are committed to helping our clients learn the skills needed to stay sober. With both evidence-based treatment and spiritual practices, we empower people to recreate and reclaim their lives. Founded by recovery pioneer Mark Houston in 2006, our team continues to help people following the inspiration set by his words and passion. BRC stands for “bringing real change,” something we strive to instill in every person who walks through our doors. We know recovery is challenging—many of our clients have tried to quit using drugs and alcohol before, only to relapse. Our team, code of ethics, and community promote lasting change through personal growth. The proven outcomes our Joint Commission-accredited centers in Texas create have forever changed the lives of countless people and their families.

Our weekly alumni meeting will still be hosted this Thursday at Club 101 & on Zoom. We hope alumni, old and young, will come out at 5:30pm to join us as we hear from BRC Healthcare’s beloved Kendall P. May we join together this Thursday to share in the memory of BRC Recovery, Spearhead Lodge, and Makana Path and the tremendous impact it made on the lives of many.

To join on Zoom, use passcode BRC.

Join us this month on December 28, 2023 as we welcome Kendall P., a BRC Healthcare alumni of 2012 and a well-loved woman in the recovery community, to our alumni speaker meeting. Kendall got sober at BRC Healthcare women's program in her early twenties after multiple failed attempts at treatment and sobriety. After becoming willing to uproot her life to seek recovery in the heart of Texas, Kendall has found "much of heaven" and has been gifted a life she couldn't have even dreamed of. Kendall has been blessed with the experience of sober motherhood and has found true joy in the life she has been given.

Livestream will be available to those who are unable to attend in person. To join on Zoom, use the link below with passcode BRC. Our meeting will start promptly at 6 pm CST.

We are saddened to announce that after many wonderful years of providing care to men and women in need of substance abuse treatment, BRC Healthcare and all related companies will formally cease operations effective no later than January 15, 2024. We have closed admissions and will no longer be accepting clients at any level of care. Our Crisis Call lines will be pivoted to a crisis call center in our network, and arrangements will be made to have business, personal, or client-related calls forwarded to us. We will be making every effort possible to transfer and/or place into appropriate levels of care all current clients. With that said, under new ownership, all current Segue and sober living residents will receive continuation of quality care alongside one another if they so choose.

As fellow recovering individuals, our support will extend onward even after the doors of BRC Healthcare are closed. Showing up for our family and alumni is a top priority for those of us who have stood on the firing-line with each of you over the years, and our phones remain available for calls to those in need of support. We encourage our alumni and families who have found healing among one another to remain in touch as you move forward with your journeys of recovery. Our Family Afterward meeting will no longer meet. However, our private alumni page will remain, enabling you to remain connected for the years to come. Be on the lookout for more information pertaining to the alumni department in the next few weeks.

We hope that the memory of BRC Healthcare may remain a beacon of hope and inspiration for individuals seeking treatment – that the decades of recovery that were established on these grounds may continue to carry the message to future recovering individuals, and that Mark Houston’s legacy may live on through each of you. Thank you to the employees who gave of themselves each and every day to make recovery possible for others. Thank you to the professionals who worked alongside us for so many years. And most importantly, thank you to the clients and families who entrusted us with your lives and made BRC Healthcare possible.

The holiday season is meant to bring joy and happiness, but it often comes with its fair share of stress and anxiety. Fortunately, there are ways to unwind and ease your mind following this hectic time. Here's a list of some effective strategies:

1. Exercise – Physical activity is a great stress reliever. Regular exercise releases endorphins, which can help you feel happier and more relaxed. It can also help you sleep better, which is essential for managing stress.

2. Practice mindfulness – Mindfulness meditation is a popular technique that can help reduce stress and anxiety. By focusing on the present moment and becoming aware of your thoughts and emotions, you can gain a better sense of control and calmness.

3. Connect with loved ones – Social support is crucial for managing stress. Make time to connect with your friends and family, either in person or through technology. Talking with someone you trust can help you feel more supported and less alone.

4. Take breaks from technology – Social media and constant connectivity can be overwhelming. Set aside some time to unplug and disconnect from technology. A digital detox can help you feel refreshed and more present in the moment.

5. Get enough sleep – Lack of sleep can increase stress and trigger anxiety. Make sure you're getting enough restful sleep each night. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep per night.

Remember, managing holiday stress is all about finding the right strategies that work for you. By trying these techniques, you can stay relaxed and enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones.

The holiday season can be a difficult time for those struggling with problematic drinking. The abundance of alcohol at holiday parties and gatherings can make it challenging to resist the temptation to drink excessively. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol addiction, seeking help can be the key to healing and recovery.

Alcohol addiction treatment can provide numerous benefits, including:

1. Professional support – An expert team of medical professionals can provide personalized care and support for each individual's unique needs. This includes psychological, emotional, and physical support to help them overcome their addiction.

2. Recovery plan – A customized recovery plan can be developed that addresses the specific causes and triggers of each individual's addiction. This plan incorporates methods and techniques that are evidence-based and backed by research.

3. Healthy coping skills – Addiction treatment can also help individuals develop new and healthy coping skills to handle stress and emotions effectively. These skills can be used to replace negative coping mechanisms such as drinking.

4. Support system – Support groups in addiction treatment provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to share their experiences and receive support from their peers. This can be especially beneficial during the holiday season when stress and emotions run high.

5. Improved overall health – An alcohol addiction treatment program can help individuals regain physical and mental health, improving their overall well-being and quality of life.

Remember, seeking help takes a great deal of courage and strength, but it can be the first step towards a fulfilling life in recovery. Don't let problematic drinking during the holiday season hold you back. Take the first step towards a healthier, happier future today.

The holiday season is a joyful time of year, but with the endless parties, family gatherings, and work events, it can be challenging for those in recovery to stay sober. To help those who are working towards sobriety, we have compiled a list of tips that can help keep you on track during the festive season.

1. Have a plan – Before attending an event, have a plan in place as to how you will avoid alcohol. This can include bringing your own non-alcoholic beverages or arranging to have a friend or family member keep you accountable.

2. Avoid triggers – Be aware of your triggers and avoid situations that may make you want to drink. If you know that certain friends or family members will be drinking, it might be best to avoid them or attend events where alcohol is not present.

3. Surround yourself with supportive people – Surround yourself with people who understand and support your recovery. Go to 12-step meetings, spend time with sober friends, and stay connected with your support network.

4. Practice self-care – The holiday season can be a stressful time, so make sure to prioritize self-care. This can include getting enough sleep, eating healthy, exercising, and making time for relaxation and mindfulness.

5. Have an exit plan – If you are feeling tempted to drink or feel uncomfortable in a situation, have an exit plan in place. This can include leaving the event early, calling a sober friend, or contacting your sponsor.

Remember, staying sober during the holiday festivities is achievable. By following these tips, you can navigate the holiday season with confidence and take care of your sobriety.

If you're worried about a loved one's addiction, it's crucial to approach them with care and understanding. Understand that they may not immediately accept help, but it's vital to keep the conversation going. Research shows that offering support and encouragement and avoiding criticism or judgment can increase the likelihood of a positive outcome.

Start by asking how they feel about their addiction and if they're open to getting help. Show them you care and remain calm and respectful, as this can set a positive tone for the conversation. Have reliable information ready, such as specific treatment options or support groups, and offer to assist them in finding help. Remember, addiction is a complex issue, and professional assistance may be necessary.

Furthermore, continue to be supportive throughout their recovery process and understand that it's a journey with ups and downs. Encouraging positive behaviors and setting boundaries can help prevent relapse while understanding that recovery is an ongoing process.

Always keep in mind that addiction affects not only the individual but also their loved ones. By supporting them through their recovery, you can make a significant impact and help them achieve a healthier, happier life.

Our Story

“Extended Care For The Treatment Resistant”

BRC Recovery is a nationally accredited behavioral healthcare provider, specializing in extended-care for the treatment resistant population.

BRC Recovery has a men’s program and a women’s program, in two separate facilities on two separate properties, where men help men and women help women. Through objective data collection and tracking, they are able to determine their proven approach is successful as indicated by the number of alumni who have successfully completed the program and report continuous sobriety. Recovery from addiction is a life-long process. There is a culture at BRC Recovery unique to alcohol and drug rehab facilities. It is a warm, supportive environment that will not only help you get sober, but will show you how to build the life you always wanted.

BRC Recovery begins with 90 day minimum, gender specific program, specifically designed for the treatment resistant/chronically relapsing population. Their three part long term continuum of care consists of a residential intensive, a high accountability transitional living, all with wrap around services of clinical and peer recovery support. Their clinical services operate alongside of the residential and transitional components and include daily group therapy, individual sessions and family counseling. Their peer recovery support services begin the moment one commences from the residential intensive and continue throughout the first crucial year of transition from rehab to real life recovery. From beginning to end BRC offers individualized treatment and discharge planning, providing the attention and care for the resident and his/her family that sets up the entire system for success, sobriety and a life of freedom and happiness.
