Full Body SMRT Therapist - Simultaneous Muscle Release Techniques

Craniosacral Practitioner

Reiki Certified; Usui Method I was attuned to Reiki II in the Usui Method of Natural Healing in 2020. My work experience has been in both chiropractic offices assisting people with misaligned spines and injuries along with spa facilities where clients come in for both relaxation and pain management. Every year I continue with educational classes teaching me different techniques in massage therapy that I can add to my toolbox and incorporate into my massages based on your unique concerns. My classes have included chronic pain relief for the neck & shoulders, proper protocol for pregnancy & postpartum massage, practices for lymphatic drainage for the neck & face, Thai table massage, and therapeutic massage training with ROLMT that focused on cranial sacral therapy & direct/indirect techniques; which is a hybrid combination of myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy & deep tissue massage. My most recent classes have been learning about SMRT- Simultaneous Muscle Release Techniques- for the extremities, upper back & shoulder, low back/abdomen & hips, and head & neck. "SMRT is a positional release modality used by bodyworkers to easefully and naturally prompt the client's body to regain homeostasis. In its simplest form SMRT uses passive contraction or shortening of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue to speak directly to the proprioceptors within these structures. If the communication between the therapist and the proprioceptors is clear and easeful, the client's tissue responds by moving toward its most comfortable, balanced state"(Full Circle). This modality incorporates positional HOLDS for 20-45 seconds. Massage Therapy slows down the nervous system, releases stress & tension, provides relief of symptoms, encourages the healing of injuries, and supports wellness. Whether you need help with pain management or relaxation, I welcome you to my table so that I may help you on your individual path of healing.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) has shown promise in reducing migraine symptoms, according to a study using the HIT-6 questionnaire. Participants who received six CST sessions over a month reported significant reductions in the impact of their migraines on daily life, with improvements persisting even a month after the treatments ended. While more research is needed, these results suggest CST could be a valuable therapeutic option for migraine sufferers.

I’m thinking about “retaking” this class with Dawn Lewis at Full Circle School of Massage Therapy in Aurora, CO. She is very anatomy heavy in her lectures during class (my head was spinning) and I was unprepared at the time of my first class with her. Now I know better! I refresh my study on the anatomy for the areas we are working on and I take notes too!! I LOVE this work!!
Dawn, is there a discount for retaking a class?

Shared from The College of CranioSacral Therapy, UK:
“When we talk about health, most people focus on the physical: posture, digestion, or even stress management. But Cranio-sacral Therapy(CST) invites us to listen more deeply—to the emotional imprints held in the body’s tissues and organs.

Eastern medicine teaches that every organ resonates with specific emotions. CST helps us connect with these subtle patterns and release what’s been held beneath the surface.

Take the lungs, for example: grief and sadness can lodge here, restricting movement and vitality. In a CST session, you might feel a softening in this area—not just physically, but emotionally. The body begins to let go.

Did you know your emotions can deeply impact your organs? 👀

▪️In Chinese medicine, each organ is linked to a core emotion:
🫁 Lungs — Grief and sadness. Unprocessed grief can weaken lung Qi and interrupt the natural rhythm of release.
🫀 Heart — Joy and love. Imbalance here—too much or too little emotion—can cause inner dissonance.
⚡️ Liver — Anger and frustration. Held anger can stagnate liver Qi, affecting both emotional and physical flow.
🤒 Spleen — Worry and overthinking. Chronic worry depletes energy and can show up as fatigue or digestive issues.
⚠️ Kidneys — Fear and anxiety. Fear drains kidney Qi, reducing resilience and grounding.

In Cranio-sacral Therapy, we gently contact the body’s intelligence, offering it the chance to release what it no longer needs—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

So if you’re feeling tightness, fatigue, or imbalance, it may not just be structural. Ask yourself:
What emotion might this area be holding onto?”
