OSD is offering online ASL I and II for this fall semester again! It's FREE! It is for anyone who want to learn ASL to be able to communicate with a Deaf person.

The registration for Online ASL Classes for ASL I and II is now open until September 30th. The Online ASL Classes for ASL I and II will begin on September 16th and continue until December 30th. These classes are non-credit level courses. This is a "go at your own pace" class.

The SSES application will be closing on March 15, 2024, and will re-open next school year on February 3, 2025.

The Supplemental Special Education Services (SSES) program is a one-time $1,500 online grant for parents/guardians of eligible students served by special education and who are enrolled in a Texas public school. Parents/guardians of eligible students can use the online accounts to shop the marketplace to obtain educational materials and resources such as textbooks, curriculum, or technology devices and/or services such as additional speech therapy, tutoring, or other specific services.

As we are at the beginning of Autism Awareness/Acceptance month, it's only apropos we also honor OTs during this, National Occupational Therapy month as well. Thanks for all my OTs out there who, together, help our neurodiverse kiddos grow even more....

For autistic people in particular, a main thrust for getting occupational therapy is to get help in managing sensory processing and/or sensory integration dysfunction.
