Good morning!
I’m nervous to post this and also excited! For the last 5.5 years, I have owned and managed Push Counseling and Coaching, a reproductive mental health therapy practice, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished. What started as just me has turned into a team of 13 clinicians, including our graduate interns! We serve the community based on 3 priniciples-affordability, accessibility, and inclusivity. We do not turn away anyone for lack of funds. We have a pay what you can fee to see our graduate interns for those who are uninsured or in Medicaid. For those who are private pay, our clinicians offer a sliding scale. And we take major insurances as well. Specialized mental health shouldn’t have to be a luxury. You shouldn’t have to choose between therapy and diapers. We are inclusive with our language and make no apologies for that. We have always offered telehealth. And most importantly, our team looks like the community we serve.

We are so proud of who we serve. However, as you can imagine, this type of practice does not make much profit. I never got into this for profit, but we basically just keep the lights on. We now want to expand and keep serving the community. With a donation we would be able to:
* Salary some of our therapists despite their caseload
* Continue to pay our clinical directors as they run the daily operations of the practice
* Continue to offer pay what you can services regardless of whether or not we have interns each semester
* Offer staff to get licensed in a second state so we can expand Push as a national presence

Thank you for believing in us. You’ve supported us and loved us through it all. Please help us keep serving. We have served over 500 clients in this practice and we want to keep addressing those issues that have been in the shadows for far too long. We want to serve clients of color and q***r clients with a staff who represents many races, ages, and identities that clients need to see to break down barriers and discomfort of providers.
Thank you for giving. Let’s go change the world!

Did you know that Push offers specialized services to those who have insurance as well as those who may not be able to afford out of pocket therapy? We see everyone! For our Medicaid, underinsured or uninsured clients, we have an intern program! It’s a pay what you can scale, capped at $30/session! We are so excited to have Crystal be our intern this fall and serve our community so mental health therapy doesn’t have to be a luxury. Need a session? Email us! Info@pushcounselingandcoaching.com

Happening tomorrow via Zoom! There is still time to register! This is great for mamas-to-be, mamas preparing for deliveries and families preparing to support the mamas in their lives as they embark upon a breastfeeding journey.

Black Breastfeeding Week is coming to a close, but we are so proud to see all the info posts, like this one from , that have helped to make people more aware.

The fact of the matter is this: Hospitals serving neighborhoods with large Black populations are less likely to offer maternity care that encourages breastfeeding. But they are highly likely to discourage it and push formula instead.

According to CDC data, hospitals serving "urban areas" typically only suggest breastfeeding for Black mothers when there's a medical reason.

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed is a personal choice. But the information and support (offering a lactation specialist for example) should be offered in the same it would be for other mothers.

repost from Black Breastfeeding Week isn’t about separation but bringing awareness to generations of people who have been negatively impacted by systemic lack of support, provider bias, and other cultural barriers. This is the perfect time for people to advocate for policies that make breastfeeding easier for mothers especially those with a lack of resources.

Today is Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, almost two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, the last remaining enslaved people — in Galveston, Texas — received word that the Civil War had ended and they had been liberated by the federal orders in the proclamation.
Celebrations broke out, and Juneteenth was born. It has since spread nationwide, and has ultimately become a time of sharing stories of Black resilience, resistance, liberation, and joy.

And now that Juneteenth is a federally recognized holiday, your employer may be giving you the day off (hello, long weekend!) or additional pay if they're staying open for business. We curated a list of ways you can thoughtfully join in honoring and remembering what we're "celebrating" on Juneteenth.

Happy Father’s Day! We hope you have a wonderful day and feel appreciated for all you do!

Happy Pride Month! Love is always love!!! Please remember that now more than ever trans lives are being targeted and oppressed. We must keep fighting for their care and against legislation that tries to erase q***r communities. ***rlove
