*Solution-finding
*Semantics matter
I do agree with the use of the word ‘invite’, but even that somehow implies a passiveness on the part of the client. I learned years ago from you guys at BRIEFand Dr. Linda Metcalf that change started the moment the client picked up the phone and scheduled an appointment. That choice is very active on the part of the client. No passivity. No invitation necessary. You all taught me that my job is just to facilitate. The metaphor I imagine is that I put “snacks” (my questions/observations/reflections) on my table. I put them out there. It’s totally up to my ‘guests’ if they pick them up. You are the masters and I am glad to have learned from you and now walk along the road you path.
