Our Practice is Proud to announce that one of our very own Nurse Practitioners’ Amy Takel made the Mansfield's 40 Under 40 from the Mansfield Business Alliance. This prestigious recognition is for individuals under the age of 40 who are shaping the future of Mansfield. Amy is making a huge impact in her field of healthcare by providing holistic care to her patients to address their physical aspects of health as well as their emotional and social needs. She also volunteers at the Mission Mansfield-Linda Nix clinic, which cares for patients who might not be able to afford to see a medical professional and serves as a mentor to nurse practitioner students in multiple programs.

Amy Tackel has been the nurse practitioner in the office of Drs John Thurmond and Brian Senger since 2017. Amy is passionate about providing holistic care to her patients that addresses the physical aspects of health but also addresses the emotional and social needs as well. Amy also volunteers monthly at the Mission Mansfield-Linda Nix clinic seeing patients who might not otherwise be able to afford to see a medical professional. The Practice had an awesome Mansfield Pickle Parade & Palooza prep day! There are so many creative personnel in our office! We made some amazing signs with the help our associates and some of their family members. We Truly consider our staff and our clients extended families. We are 20 years in the business here and intend to take care of the community for 20 plus more.

Ok we know you have all been waiting for the Big reveal! The theme for Mansfield Pickle Parade & Palooza is “How Sweet it is to be in Mansfield” So this years Shirt is “A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine go Down!” A big thanks to Sweetie Pie Pets for volunteering your time again this year to design our shirts! Dr. Brian Paul Senger, Sr. is an internal medicine physician in the city of Mansfield, TX. He is originally from St. Louis and an avid St, Louis Blues fan.

Dr. Senger received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Baylor and earned his medical degree from the St. Louis University of Medicine. During his schooling Dr. Senger was on the Dean’s List, Golden Key Honor Society, Psychology Honor Society, and achieved a Distinction in Research. He returned to Texas and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he eventually moved up to Chief Resident Internal Medicine. Prior to Moving to Mansfield, TX for the past 25 years he has been a founding member of MacGregor Medical Center in San Antonio. He is currently affiliated with the Bexar County Medical Society, American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and American Medical Association.

Dr. Senger first became interested in the medical field as a child when he spent many years in the hospital watching his younger brother go through treatments. He became increasingly curious about how the treatments worked and how they were affecting his brother. He looked up to the Doctor’s and wanted to be like them. Dr. Senger loves the challenge of finding out what is wrong and helping people feel better. Over the years he has seen and helped many undiagnosed individuals and feels that his time is well spent helping people get the answers they need.

Dr. Senger looks forward to joining the Mansfield Community. He is excited to become active in community events along with his fiancé Ms. Jeanine Priester. The couple loves spending time with their family and friends.

Dr. John Ira Thurmond, III is an internal medicine physician practicing in Mansfield.

Dr. Thurmond received his undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in Clinical Gerontology from Baylor University. He earned his medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Thurmond elected to pursue a career in medicine because he had always been interested in science and helping people – that’s why becoming a doctor was a “natural choice.” He became especially interested in internal medicine because the field provides the opportunity to treat multiple disease processes, as well as to establish long-term relationships with patients.

Asked what he wants his patients to know about him, Dr. Thurmond puts it simply: “I am experienced and down to earth!” Dr. Thurmond is also fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Thurmond is married with four children. When he’s not serving his patients, he enjoys golf and spending time with his family.
