Dr. Joel Hayden launches Wicked Good Vision
to specialize in Orthokeratology
Mansfield, MA - October, 2014
Hayden Optometric is pleased to announce the launch of their new business “Wicked Good Vision.”
Dr. Joel B. Hayden is an optometric expert in fitting GPL (Gas Permeable Lenses) for over 20 years, and is now offering Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) through Wicked Good Vision.
“Ortho-K or CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure that eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses. It improves vision by gently reshaping your cornea while you sleep using specially designed therapeutic contact lenses. You simply wear the fitted lenses at bedtime, and when you awake, you will have clear, sharp, natural vision for your waking hours.” This means NO LASIK, NO GLASSES, NO DAILY CONTACT LENSES!
Ortho-K is ideal for athletes, those that work in dusty environments, young children with progressively increasing nearsightedness, individuals that were not candidates for regular contact lenses, (dry eyes, astigmatism, etc.) as well as individuals who are farsighted. Ideally, the prescription should range from a +2.00 to a -6.00. (Some Orthokeratologists may attempt higher prescriptions.)
In order to achieve great vision, adults can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks, while children’s corneas are much more easily molded. Some candidates are seeing clearly in as little as one night with their retainer lenses.
Patients who wear their lenses as prescribed will have great vision into the night and some candidates may need to be fitted with a daily disposable lens until the vision improves with the Ortho-K. Some candidates are even able to wear their lenses every other night and still maintain their enhanced vision. However, if you stop wearing your lenses while sleeping, your vision will return to its original state.
The rate of success for Ortho-K is very high, but it depends on your original prescription and treatment goals. During your initial evaluation Dr. Hayden will give you information about your potential outcome.
