A young adult patient came to our clinic with the support of a close family member after struggling with increasing anxiety, depression, and isolation for an extended period of time. Traditional school had been difficult, and after years of homeschooling and limited social interaction, the family became deeply concerned about the patient’s mental health and overall well-being.
The patient had previously been referred for autism screening during the COVID years, but testing was never completed due to the challenges and disruptions of that season.
Our team helped connect the patient and caregiver with outside resources for evaluation and additional medical support. Through those referrals, the patient was able to receive proper testing, a diagnosis, and treatment that has already led to meaningful progress in mental health and daily life.
In addition to medical support, both the patient and caregiver received encouragement through counseling services, including support from our chaplains. Jacquelyn also spent time encouraging the patient with puzzles and a thrift store voucher to help explore hobbies and interests that could bring joy and connection.
The family shared how grateful they are for the care, support, and compassion they received through every step of the process. Stories like this remind us how important it is to care for the whole person — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. 💙
