We're excited to announce our February spotlight, Rayshawn Baynes!

Rayshawn has been at the Manteno campus for two years, and in that time his spirit and approach to work have helped create a safe and effective environment for our youth in our programs. His teammates say that Rayshawn is open and helpful, and that approach spills over into his relationships with the youth. He consistently looks for ways to improve their experience and show up for them in meaningful ways. His leaders also recognize his strong documentation and ongoing growth, which strengthens his entire team.

Thank you, Rayshawn, for your part in strengthening Program 2 and positively impacting the lives of the youth and families we serve.

Our Program 2 youth recently spent the day at the Sloomoo Institute, and it was such a fun and memorable experience! The youth had the chance to explore creativity, sensory play, and teamwork through hands on slime activities that encouraged self-expression and positive engagement

There were lots of laughs, curiosity, and moments of connection throughout the day. Outings like this give our youth the opportunity to try new experiences, build confidence, and most importantly—enjoy being kids!

We’re feeling incredibly grateful at Nexus–Indian Oaks!

Thanks to the generosity of Georgie’s Closet — a local nonprofit that supports youth involved with county systems — our youth received brand-new pajamas. It may seem simple, but having something new, comfortable, and truly their own can make a meaningful difference in helping young people feel cared for and valued.

We’re thankful for community partners like Georgie’s Closet who show up for youth in tangible, thoughtful ways.

Our Story

Nexus-Indian Oaks Family Healing has earned a national reputation as an outstanding residential treatment provider for hard-to-place boys and girls, ages 12-21, who have exhibited problematic sexual behaviors, patterns of abusive behavior, and lack of empathy. Sexuality therapy includes sessions addressing inappropriate sexual behaviors and perpetration, and the resolution of personal victimization issues.

Nexus-Indian Oaks is located approximately 50 miles south of Chicago, in the small, rural community of Manteno, IL. Our campus features cottages with private bedrooms that provide safety and comfort for youth in residence. Treatment programs focus on high-acuity youth who have exhibited sexually problematic behaviors, patterns of abusive behavior, and lack of empathy, with and without accompanying intellectual disability.

Nexus-Indian Oaks has expanded services to help youth in foster care, those who are at-risk, and those who need continued care through aftercare services.
