Massage Therapy for Headaches: Why It’s So Important
Headaches aren’t all the same and massage can be tailored to help with each type:
Tension Headaches
These often come from tight neck, shoulder, and scalp muscles. Massage helps release that tension, improving blood flow and easing the “band-like” pressure across your head.
Migraines
Migraines can be linked to stress, muscle tightness, or nerve compression. Massage helps reduce stress hormones, relaxes trigger areas, and can lower the frequency or intensity of attacks over time.
Sinus Headaches
Massage around the face, temples, and scalp can encourage sinus drainage, reduce pressure, and bring soothing relief from that heavy, congested feeling.
Cluster Headaches
While these are severe and often require medical management, massage can help reduce surrounding muscle tension and promote relaxation to support overall comfort.
The bottom line: Headaches affect daily life but massage addresses the underlying causes: stress, tension, circulation, and relaxation.
Don’t wait until the next headache strikes book a massage and give your body a chance to reset and recover.
