May is Osteoporosis Month!
Osteoporosis is often called the “silent disease”—you don’t feel your bones getting weaker until a fracture happens. That’s where imaging steps in.
A DEXA scan (bone density test) is the gold standard for detecting bone loss early, long before symptoms appear. It’s quick, painless, and can help your care team:
✅ Measure bone strength
✅ Identify fracture risk
✅ Track changes over time
✅ Guide treatment before serious injury occurs
Other imaging tools like X-rays or CT scans can also help spot fractures or advanced bone loss, but early detection with DEXA is key.
Don’t wait for a fall to find out your risk—talk to your provider about screening, especially if you’re over 50 or have risk factors.
