We are excited to announce that Nathan has openings for in person at Vadnais Heights and telehealth. Please call or email us if you would like to schedule!
Education/Experience
Nathan obtained their Bachelor’s Degree from Bard College and their Masters in Social Work from Columbia University in the City of New York. During their practicum, Nathan worked in a wide variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and residential treatment facilities. Previously, Nathan worked at Fraser, where they specialized in working with youth and young adults on the autism spectrum facing a myriad of challenges, such as depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, gender and life transitions, processing childhood trauma, and dealing with loss and grief.
Specialized Training
Nathan is in the process of attaining Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a unique and non-stigmatizing model of practice that treats the psyche as comprised of “parts” that form the core of an individual and shape how they process experiences. By the end of 2025, Nathan will be finished with this training, and they are excited to implement it in sessions. While Internal Family Systems is especially useful for working with trauma, it is a versatile methodology that can help a person to tackle a myriad of challenges.
Areas of Clinical Interest
While Nathan enjoys working with individuals of any age, they are especially excited about working with adolescents and young adults. Nathan also enjoys working with boys and men to discuss the gender-specific issues that men and masc individuals face.
Nathan has expertise in working with clients on the autism spectrum and has experience working with those with Down’s Syndrome and chromosome disorders such as chromosome 19 disorder. Nathan has had several clients with cerebral palsy and would love to assist more individuals with physical disabilities in getting their needs met and their voices heard.
Nathan loves working with clients in the LGBTQIA+ spectrum as well as members of the poly and kink communities.
They understand that what is relevant to clinical work might not simply be what happened last week, but what happened months or even years ago. As such, trauma work has become a core focus of Nathan’s practice.
Across the populations they work with, Nathan believes that the body and the mind comprise a holistic self and may bring somatic techniques into sessions.
Practice Areas
Nathan works with adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and families.
Personal Statement
Past coworkers have described me as “unapologetically myself.” I will always approach our work together from a strengths-based perspective— the belief that emphasizing what we are good at can help us grow.
My goal is to be your partner and ally every step of the way as you move towards self-actualization and self-compassion. I approach client interactions from a framework of cultural humility, the belief that being open to learning about what I may not understand is just as important as my expertise.
I believe in using humor when appropriate and pride myself on my ability to ask perceptive questions, approaching issues from an analytical framework. If you are an artist, I would love to see or hear your work so that I can understand how to better relate to and work with you. I believe that art is an expression of the soul and enjoy writing and making music in my free time.
