Just in time for spring, I'm finally able to plant the orchard/ cottage garden I envisioned ever since buying this house 9 years ago!

All while getting ready to plant dahlias, sprouting lots of things for the Covington maker market on May 9th, and starting to ship out dahlia orders next Monday. It's a busy time of year, but it's my favorite time of year! There is so much hope for the future, no matter what is going on in politics.

Cleaning and reorganizing the greenhouse to prepare for many more dahlias and veggie and herb sprouts! My girls didn't like the idea of getting credit for their hard work at first. My oldest (in the back) cracking up is my favorite!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow...

Friendly reminder that the website will be taken down around 10am PST so I can upload quantities to the site. It will come up right at noon. I am intentionally starting with a small amount of varieties and quantities and will restock (probably each weekend) as tubers wake up so some favorites will have only 2 or 3 available!

It's time for leaf and tuber cuttings! These will help me reach my goal of at least 4 clumps per variety and extra will be available for sale locally. I've also started a few veggies in the greenhouse last week: basil, leeks, parsley, lettuce, and tomatoes. I absolutely love this stage of gardening but my back hates me. 😭

I would appreciate prayers for my back and speedy medical services. I learned last Friday that there is another hurdle to jump before I can get the disc replaced. Once insurance authorization comes through then I have to see the vascular surgeon who partners with the spine surgeon for disc replacements. She schedules out 4-6 weeks and only after she approves can I actually get in the surgery schedule. So now I have another thing to wait on. It's very frustrating and depressing. Planting things brings me some joy, but I can only do that for about 30 minutes a day.

I'm excited to see how many of these leaf cuttings grow to maturity so I can share more Lee's varieties with others!

Flower focus: Bull's Blood

It's a dark red, 6 inch wide, semi-cactus with a relatively long vase life for that Petal shape. It's also a super vigorous grower, reaching at least 6 feet in my garden! It definitely needs staking but I think it's worth it. I'm also hoping to be able to offer a couple of bulls blood mini, which grew about 4.5 feet tall but nearly the same bloom size at 5 inches.

Second set of babies were born today around 1pm! Experienced mom, Basil, did everything herself and the boys started eating right away. They were a bit cold at this photo because they were still wet, but they got warm quickly. Thank you all for the name suggestions! We decided on Valentina and Truffle for the twins born yesterday, Cupid and Pepe for the boys today.

P.S. uncle Oliver loves checking on the babies and licking spilled milk off their faces. 🤣😍
