Some powerful and painful facts right here. Explains so much. These are screenshots from a racial disparities conference through Rutgers University (whose campus was indeed built by slaves) with , the author of as the keynote speaker. The first quote is from , author of . Look especially at the last shot, the House “Freedom” Caucus. It’s just so so sick. It’s time. White male supremacy needs to get the EFF OUT.

This poster came from the organization , the organization that spearheaded the original women’s march after trump was elected and they continue to work hard to fight for women, of all colors and all backgrounds. This poster resonated on a few levels- the most powerful and obvious of which is the fact that women are the source of all human life. But what is less obvious and doesn’t get rewarded (or even seen) is the continued and unending care, love, commitment, worry, toil, fear, teaching, helping, guiding, sacrificing, feeding, remembering, building and creating that women to fill in all the gaps in society. With their own children indeed, but also with others- male partners, parents, siblings, neighbors, the ill, the aging, the mentally ill, the lonely, the forgotten, the poor. Who does this work? Predominantly women. Often women of color. Who reaps the benefits and who gets rewarded? White (heterosexual) men. Women are not only creating a new generation of humans who might save us from our own demise, but we are making the world go round- making it a good place to be. Every fu***ng day. We need women to rule now. It’s our turn. It’s time. Oh, and happy Mother’s Day you bad asses!

We dyed 6 sad eggs. And had so much great dye leftover- so decided to collect all the boring white socks and transform them. They now will have a second life. I loved doing this! And it wouldn’t have happened had we not been quarantined. I love finding the little corners of joy and hope. ✌️🌈❤️

I’ve been thinking about this ALOT. I strive to be an anti racist, which yes, means more kerfuffles and pushing through my own fears and doubts- and holiday family time requires that I think through how I want to show up, how I want to walk the talk. My clients too, find themselves gearing up, hunkering down, searching for a way through the often inevitable landmines of racism (and sexism and xenophobia and and and) that family holidays tend to agitate. This is an article by a brave, bad ass pioneer in the field of anti racism, .cargle. Staying calm is important (take breaths before responding). But so is speaking up. If you can do both, that is brilliant. This article offers some very straightforward responses to some of the typical attitudes you might encounter. Take some of it, none of it or every morsel of it... but thinking this through, to me, feels vital if we want to feel as though we have made choices that align with our beliefs and our hopes. God speed.
