Cookie, a juvenile green Sea Turtle being treated for positive buoyancy disorder is looking more relaxed in her hospital tank today! When Cookie was admitted, she swam frantically at the surface, trying to dive. Cookie did not have an appetite and X-rays revealed severe intestinal gas. Cookie has started eating natural seagrass and some seafood which allows us to offer her oral medication. She is beginning to respond to treatment! Please keep prayers and healing energies coming for Cookie!

The Turtle Hospital is proud to announce the release of “Molly,” a resilient loggerhead sea turtle who captured hearts worldwide during her extraordinary rehabilitation journey. Molly, the first loggerhead of her size to survive the removal of such a large tumor, will return to her ocean home on Tuesday, November 25th, at Higgs Beach in Key West.
Molly was rescued in early August off Key West by local charter boat captain, who discovered her weak, anemic, and entangled in a stone crab trap line. She was covered in barnacles and suffering from a massive fibropapilloma tumor on her shoulder. Captain Nate contacted The Turtle Hospital, and Molly was transported to the facility via ambulance to begin her critical care.
Upon arrival, the medical team at The Turtle Hospital began intensive treatment. Molly’s regimen included broad-spectrum antibiotics, fluids, vitamins, a healthy diet of mixed seafood, and multiple surgeries to remove her numerous tumors. The colossal tumor on her shoulder weighed an astounding 10.1 pounds.
Molly beat the odds, and her incredible recovery has inspired millions. Videos of her journey have garnered over 80 million views on social media, and people have traveled from across the country to visit her during her stay at the hospital. Her story has profoundly increased public awareness and love for sea turtles and the challenges they face.
For her release, Molly will be fitted with a small satellite transmitter tag. The public will be able to follow Molly’s journey at sea; the link to track her progress will be posted on the The Turtle Hospital website http://www.turtlehospital.org and on their social media platforms.
Members the public are invited to join The Turtle Hospital for Molly’s triumphant return to the Atlantic Ocean.
