The harbor as seen from Crocker Park is such a great place to observe the changing seasons. The appearance and disappearance of boats reminds me of budding trees, first snow falls, and when I switch to ice coffee.

Dear Marblehead,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Vanessa Freedman as she ran the Boston Marathon to raise money for the MGH department that saved Gary’s life.

Her goal was to raise $10k.

Thanks to you she raised over $15,000!!!!!!!

From time to time people post looking for recommendations on where to shop for eyeglasses.

So many of you mention our shop and tag us in your responses.

It means the world.

For those of you who might not be aware, here’s a little bit about Marblehead Opticians;

We’ve been serving our town since 1976 and we absolutely love / care about our community.

Our aim is to welcome and provide incredible service to everyone and barring loss or theft to unconditionally guarantee everything we sell.

If price is your primary concern, we’ve got you.

For several years to compete with the box stores and chains we’ve offered package deals.

$129 gets you a frame, single vision, thin, anti-reflective coated lenses with a two year scratch warranty.

If your prescription changes within 90 days we’ll change them for free.

If you need progressives, packages start at $229 and we stand behind them the same way.

If designer luxury is what you’re after we’ve got you too!

CELINE, Oliver Peoples, TOM FORD, MOSCOT, Maui Jim… The list goes on and on.

We don’t carry so called luxury brands where you’re really only paying for a logo on a poorly made frame.

We literally offer every conceivable level of lens quality, and are up to date on how lens technology works and what’s available.

If you happen to love box stores, chain stores and online shopping you can still come in for adjustments and we’ll happily tweak, twist and tighten your glasses at no charge and it’s truly our pleasure.

What you may not know is that all the local / independent shops in our area have a wonderful working relationship, and often partner if one shop needs something that the other has and vice versa.

All this to say, if you’ve been a box store / chain store shopper because you think you can’t afford to keep it local, you actually can!

Also, if you think you have to drive into the city to find the kind of selection you’d expect on Newbury Street, think again.
