You’re not “failing treatment” just because surgery is being discussed.

Often, it means the tissue itself hasn’t been addressed yet.

I’ve worked with clients including a nurse with plantar fasciitis who were told surgery was the next step after PT, injections, and medication.

By focusing on fascial restriction and strain patterns instead of forcing change, her body responded and surgery was no longer needed.

This doesn’t mean surgery is wrong.

It means it’s worth understanding all your options.

If you are looking for an alternative before surgery this may be worth considering

2016 is the new 2026
when posting was simpler and more human.

These photos are a little snapshots from that season, life and work all woven together

learning as I went,

sharing what I was discovering

following curiosity,

Caring for my own body and wanting others to feel empowered to care for theirs, too

Even back then, I was working with women who were living with pain, the kind you manage around, push through and try to ignore.

What mattered most to me then (and still does) was offering holistic whole body approach that felt supportive, grounding, and safe.

Some things have changed a lot.
Some things’s really haven’t.

Local love 🤍

I read about this retreat and immediately thought, some of you will want to know about this.

My dear friend Gurdeep Bhogal.

She’s a a yoga teacher, medium, and longtime spiritual practitioner, here in Marblehead, and she’s guiding a winter retreat on Cape Cod in February called Bowing to Spirit.

I take her yoga classes and I’m lucky to call her a friend. She’s a gentle and powerful guide, a deep space holder, and incredibly knowledgeable. She’s been deeply studying spirituality for years.

It’s a deep winter retreat for spiritual practitioners and yoga teachers who feel called to slow down, bow inward, and deepen their embodied connection with Spirit through movement, ritual, sacred sound, and creative expression.

Sharing in case it resonates 🤍

If you’re experiencing sharp, shooting pain that travels down one leg, you may be dealing with sciatica.

Sciatica is the term used when pain follows the path of the sciatic nerve — the longest nerve in the body. It typically runs from the lower back, through the hips and buttocks, and down the leg, often affecting one side more than the other.

What’s important to know is that sciatica isn’t always caused by the spine alone.
Tight or restricted fascia and surrounding structures can place pressure on the nerve, leading to sensations like burning, aching, or that familiar “lightning bolt” pain.

This is where a whole-body approach matters.

With Myofascial Release, we don’t just chase where the pain shows up. We look at the broader pattern including the hips, pelvis, and surrounding tissues and work gently to reduce restriction and strain so the nerve has more space.

Many women I work with come in frustrated after trying multiple approaches and begin to notice gradual but meaningful shifts: less nerve irritation, easier movement, and more comfort over time.

If sciatic pain has been limiting your life and you’re looking for a more root-focused approach, this may be worth exploring.

Travel used to be one of the first things clients told me they were worried about. Long flights. Sitting for hours. Wondering if their back would hold up.

What I appreciate about this story is that it reflects how change often shows up. Not all at once. Not dramatically. But in meaningful ways that give life back.

When the body has been dealing with pain for a long time, especially after trying multiple approaches, it often needs a different kind of support. One that looks beyond symptoms and works with the body as a whole.

Myofascial Release focuses on addressing deeper restrictions that contribute to strain and nerve irritation, helping the body tolerate sitting, movement, and travel with more ease over time.

Being able to take a trip or multiple flights without pain is not about pushing through.
It is about the body having more options again.

If travel, long drives, or sitting for extended periods has been limiting you, this kind of work may be worth exploring.

If you’ve tried stretching, medication, massage, PT maybe even injections and your back still hurts, you’re not alone.

Back pain isn’t always about the spine itself.
Often, it’s related to restrictions in the fascia, the connective tissue that supports and connects the entire body.

Over time, injury, stress, posture, or surgery can cause this tissue to tighten and lose its ability to adapt. When that happens, it can create strain through the back and nervous system, showing up as stiffness, ongoing pain, or sciatica that doesn’t fully resolve.

Myofascial Release works by gently addressing those deeper restrictions, giving the body a chance to soften, reorganize, and move with less strain.

Many of the women I work with come in feeling frustrated after trying everything else and begin to notice meaningful shifts over time: less pain, easier movement, and more trust in their body again.

If your back pain hasn’t responded to the usual approaches and you’re looking for something more root-focused, this may be worth exploring.

What is Myofascial Release, really?

It’s not a massage.
And it’s not about chasing symptoms.

Myofascial Release is a whole-body approach that looks at why pain is showing up — which is often not where you feel it.

In my work at North Shore Myofascial Release in Marblehead, I use a hands-on method that supports the body in releasing long-held restrictions so movement feels easier and the body can function with less strain.

This carousel walks through:
• what makes Myofascial Release different
• a real client shift
• what fascia is and why it matters
• what to expect in a first session

If you’ve tried PT, massage, acupuncture, or chiropractic and still feel limited, this may help explain why — and what else is possible.

If you’re newer here or have been quietly curious, this is a good place to start.

These are all things my clients have been told.

👉 “It’s just part of getting older.”
👉 “Your scans are normal, so nothing is wrong.”
👉 “You’ll just have to live with it.”
👉 “It’s all in your head.”

And here’s what I want you to know instead:
✨ Your pain is real.
✨ Common doesn’t mean normal.
✨ There is always a reason and there are always options.
✨ You deserve to be believed and supported.
My takeaway for you today:
💛 You are not broken.
💛 Your body is wise and capable of healing.
💛 If someone doesn’t listen, find someone who does.
Remember, you are in charge of your body, and you get to choose care that truly supports you.

Do you have sciatica or back pain that just won’t go away?

Sciatica isn’t always caused by a “pinched nerve” — it can often stem from tight fascia pulling on the structures around your spine, hips, and legs.

Your fascia is a web of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, nerve, and organ. When it tightens from injury, surgery, repetitive movement, or even stress it can compress nerves and restrict blood flow, creating that radiating pain, tingling, or numbness many people describe as sciatica.

That’s where Myofascial Release (MFR) is different.
Instead of forcing movement or masking symptoms, MFR gently softens and releases those restrictions, restoring space and mobility throughout the body.

This is what helped my client after 20 years of recurring tightness and sciatica to finally move, sleep, and walk comfortably again.

If you’ve tried massage, stretching, or chiropractic care and the pain keeps returning, fascia might be the missing link.
Your body can change. It just needs a different kind of care.

If you’ve been living with pain and feel like you’ve already tried everything…

Text on graphic for this post: This is a beautiful time to pause and reflect.

If some of your goals didn’t happen this year, it doesn’t mean you weren’t disciplined.
It doesn’t mean you’ll never get there.
And it definitely doesn’t mean your body is broken.

Your body may have been protecting old patterns.

It may have been in guard mode.
It may simply need more time and support to peel back the layers.

As you step into 2026, consider:
• What do I want to let go of in my body?
• What do I want to feel in my body?
• What support do I need to get there?

Many people tell me their goal is to be “pain-free.”
And while that makes sense, it’s also vague and hard to measure.

Clarity creates possibility.

What do you want your body to feel like day to day?
What do you want to do with more ease?
What emotions do you want to experience in your body this year?

Maybe it’s moving comfortably.
Feeling grounded and calm.
Waking up without stiffness or pain.
Feeling more like yourself again.

Your body is capable of change at any age and any stage.

A focused series of Myofascial Release sessions can support that process.
Most clients begin to notice meaningful shifts around the six-session mark, as the fascia starts to open and patterns begin to change.

If you want to begin the year feeling more ease, comfort, and connection in your body, now is a beautiful time to plan your winter care.

Happy New Year 🤍
