Life is the greatest teacher.
I have been a student of Life in many ways. Personal experience of living through many different kinds of physical, emotional and mental traumas have given me opportunities to hold space for others.
During this year, I have had the great opportunity to study this process and the affects of PTSD on all the systems of the body. It has been an up close and personal journey which has lead to many depths I did not know existed. At least intellectually, I had and Idea. Living through it is a whole other story...
For this, I am truly grateful. However, I am still a student and get to dig deep myself as I practice what I teach.
The body does not discriminate between mental, physical, or emotional stressors. It simply perceives there is something harmful going on. The wisdom of the physical body takes over.
Sympathetic vs. Parasympathetic. Both part of the autonomic nervous system, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work involuntarily. Sympathetic is responsible for the response commonly referred to as "fight or flight," while parasympathetic is referred to as "rest and digest."
When we are under continued amounts of stress, our nervous system responds. Over time, we feel pains in our musculoskeletal system, fatigue, digestive issues, brain fog, the need for constant movement or distraction....
There are layers of responses. The chemicals, hormones, and muscular reactivity is automatic to the point that the body and Central Nervous System React before the Brain can register it. One sees this with War vets and Survivors in general. Subconsciously reliving The incident, accident, trauma over and over agsin...we hold our breath, our body tightens...it becomes our new normal, unknowingly..
Again we may know this intellectually, but the wisdom of the body goes deep into the cellular system. We are so handsome consciously be reacting to generational DNA programming ( This is a conversation for another day!)
Yet there is a pause.
It is very difficult to find. One can cultivate it. It takes practice. The practice of connecting to the breath. Consciously and Consistently.
I am still practicing. I am still a student. My greatest teachers have been my kids, my clients, my family, my own life experiences...Reactivity is built into the system as a survival mechanism...
It has been an honor to be on this healing journey. I am "in class" ...Learning more and more about the Central Nervous System and how to settle this system so that the physical body can settle and relax. it is another form of "Deep Tissue". The misconception about "deep tissue" is still "no pain-no gain". Momentary relief without long term effect. The shove verses the invitation to release. Allowing the CNS to settle is like taking an armor off; which allows for the physical body to open to receive assistance in transforming holding patterns. There by starting the processes of neuromuscular re-education. It is a beautiful unraveling. Not necessarily Pretty. But beautiful to witness, hold space for as well as work through.
Transmutation on a cellular level is possible.

In deep appreciation for my own healing journey which allows me to share with others.
